As Rockstar's only T rated game, it's also one of their most unique for the setting, mini "class" games, advancement through society and character development. Obviously, the game is about bullying and fighting your way through the ranks only to try and bring peace to the school. While the plot may not be as strong as other Rockstar titles, it's certainly more fun than others for the exploration of the school and outside areas, including the town, carnival, and industrial park. Overall, it's an exceptional game.

You are Jimmy Hopkins, all around average teen that is sent to a private school in the New England area. Jimmy eventually befriends the idealist Gary Smith, and Pete Kowalski, the resident dweeb. Jimmy is able to attend classes, make friends, have a relationship, and fight bullies. The main enemies are the preps and jocks, but there's an underlying story here as the game takes place throughout the school year.

I have to say, watching Bully's story unfold was exciting and exhilerating as I was fondly reminded of Harry Potter.

While being the shortest Assassin's Creed title in the Ezio trilogy, it has the strongest writing involving Ezio's personal journy to Constantinople/Istanbul while also revealing more about Altair. The main campaign is only about ten to twelve hours, but there's an additional ten hours of content from exploring and rebuilding the city, rebuying landmarks, guarding your Assassin towers as well as training apprentices to masters. The conclusion of Ezio's story was satisfying as we also got to see the conclusion of Altair's life. I don't really know what else to add about the gameplay, besides Istanbul being gorgeous.

In short, Darksiders is Legend of Zelda meets bloody apocalypse fighting. It's a fun game as the story was interesting with a decent enough hack and slash fighting system with combos and such. The enemies vary vastly and the bosses are always different. Big lack of PC settings though, you can only change the resolution and v-sync, no aliasing, filtering, etc, just poor port settings.

The gameplay, like I said, is similar in vein to The Legend of Zelda, but with a lot more blood. You are War, one of the Four Horsemen sent to confront Abaddon during the final Judgement on Earth. And you fight demons and ♥♥♥♥♥♥, just like Link. The fighting style is even similar, block and attack when possible. Take advantage of enemy weak spots. Roll around and jump attack. Very similar indeed. Even the horse riding and climbing is similar.

Still a good game though, despite the flaws with the porting and some minor frame rate issues.

Arkham City is sprawling with beauty in the details. The combat system is obviously similar to Asylum, but with a little more kick in it. The story is what is amazing here though. The writing in Arkham City and character development is even more embraced than the Nolan films.

You are Batman (obviously), well you actually start as Bruce Wayne getting captured and sent to Arkham City for being opposed to TYGER, since AC is currently controlled by criminals as all this stuff has happened. But you get your gear soon after and the show begins.

First of all, the city is gorgeous, stunning, beautiful, even though the only time is night time. You can glide around and climb all over the place, the free roam is simply riveting. I couldn't have enjoyed a Batman game more than ever.

The plot is intricate, but essentially, it becomes known that Joker is dying from an illness from the Titan formula. You investigate and do a bunch of crime fighting while running into various foes........there are enemies everywhere, just put it like that.

Alan Wake is one of those games that you remember and enjoy because of the writing, the characters, the environment and the attention to detail. Remedy really nailed it with this one, I mean, four years later, the mountains, trees, grass, clothing, all of it looks outstanding with the texturing. The only objects that are outstandishly low res are books and readable stuff, like newspapers, which is ironic to me considering who the protagonist is, a writer.

Anyway, the game boasts a wild premise, Alan Wake, a bestselling author is on vacation with his wife in the gorgeous Pacific north-west. They rent a cabin on a lake in a mysterious town, Bright Falls, and, essentially, a dark essense exists that wishes to exploit Alan Wake. So when Alan isn't looking, his wife falls into the lake by unusual circumstances. Despite Alan's efforts of jumping to help her, the next thing he remembers is waking up a week later in a car wreck. This is where the game gets interesting.

Alan ends up learning how to fight the darkness, also known as the taken. Using flashlights, revolvers, pump shotguns, and hunting rifles. And the gunplay has Remedy written all over it, very cinematic and stylish with diving and avoiding axe and chainsaw, weilding taken. They're frightening, because some of them happen to be people you'd met earlier and disappeared under strange circumstances.

Sam Lake, the head writer at Remedy, deserves all the credit for the direction which is gorgeous, cinematic and well edited. Plus, once you meet more characters, the more interesting the game gets. Without spoiling anything, just prepare for the Eye of Mordor.

In what is perhaps one of the greatest narratives in a video game is also an amazing deconstruction of the military shooter genre. The game sends you on an intense journey only for you to learn that war is gruesome and brutal and you will not only hate the enemy, but you will hate yourself.

You are a soldier sent to Dubai to look for survivors and help them out of the city of Dubai that has been ridden with sand storms. It seems like an easy mission, but everything turns upside down when you get there and realize that the survivors are your enemy.

As a 3rd person shooter, this game has all the controls you'd expect, cover systems, OTS aiming, running etc, but that's not the main point of the game.

You come across files, tapes and other objects that tell the tale of what is similar the story of 'Hearts of Darkness' which was adapted to 'Apocalypse Now'. Your character believes that a leading US military ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is alive in Dubai based on conversations and recordings of his voice heard through loud speakers. It all unvravels in the end.

Plus the art style of Dubai is gorgeous and massive.

If you didn't already play this on the PS2 or Xbox, then you really must play it. It's revolutionary in the GTA franchise as far as gameplay elements go. It's almost like an RPG with the stats system and the attitude of having to maintain your characters physical appearance was a bonus. Sure, the graphics haven't aged well, but the 14 square miles have plenty to explore.

The story is sprawling like a historical epic. You are CJ, a busta living in the hood just trying to get by in life, but is caught up in gang related issues involving your brother Sweet and childhood friend, Smoke. While helping take control of Los Santos you are forced into exile from corrupt cops and this is where the exploration gets amazing. San Andreas has three cities and a massive open range of hills and mountains to drive around, aimlessly if you like. Or you could look for bigfoot.

As the story progresses, you'll fall in love with the game's aesthetic for deciding if your CJ should be fat from eating a lot and not exercising, or is a beefcake. You will buy homes and safehouses where you can store cars. You will take control of the city.

I never found bigfoot though.

Love Mario Kart? Then you'll love Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed! It's addicting, gorgeous graphics and so many unlockable characters, including Steam related ones.

A great stand-alone expansion to the first Crysis. You play as Psycho, whom you meet in Crysis, and the primary goal of the game is to retrieve a container from a Korean General on the island. You fight the same enemies but the game is just as breathtaking as the original with the amount of detail in the environment. Also, Psycho has a lot more character embedded in himself than Nomad.

Surprisingly, it's a really fun game with a decent to good story. The mechanics and scoring system is awesome and the kills are over the top, in a good way; I mean, there are so many ways to kill people, either from shock pulling them, stomping, kicking, punching, shotting, all sorts of things. And the XP system in this game works in comparison to other titles that try to utilize XP without any RPG elements.

Too bad the sequel was shelved. Only downsides are the cutscenes which have an ungodly low resolution/render output. I don't know why they didn't just use the in-game engine, it's certainly more than capable of outputting at higher resolutions.
