I never got around to playing Resident Evil 4 when it originally came out on the Gamecube so I was happy when they announced the Ultimate HD Edition. In fact, the only Resident Evil game I've beaten is 5, and I watched a friend play through the first one in its entirety, so having only really experienced those two, I wasn't sure what to expect with 4. I know it received massive acclaim when it was released because it completely changed the formula for the series, so I was kind of expecting something a bit less.... cliched. This game is just full of cliches and goes on to make fun of those cliches. It's kind of surreal.

I think Leon is arguably the coolest character in the Resident Evil series and the writers definitely know that when they decided he was going to be a government agent after the Raccoon City events. He's sly and makes stupid puns, but is intelligent and quick thinking. The fact that he's sent to find the President's daughter in a Spanish village sounds normal enough. But things are obviously not normal when he gets there. The game starts off like a survival horror, but immediately, I stopped being terrified as it was clear that there's more action for our "action hero". Leon is ultimately painted as an action hero, and boy oh boy, the in game villains can not stop referencing that. The basic story is that, as I've stated, he's sent by the US to find the President's recently captured daughter, Ashley Graham (she's quite the character too) and he does it, obviously. There's more to this village though, they've been all infected by some parasite, Las Plagas. Instead of the slow, dreary zombies, we have psychopathic Spanish people that wanna kill you. As the game progresses, you face different variations of these people as well as the people in the cult that are behind it and some military types. It gets pretty weird really fast. I mean, this game blends the survival horror trope with weird religious cult attitude and a high conspiracy plot potentially involving Umbrella. It's loads of fun but definitely off the walls insane. Which is exactly why I love it. The gameplay is a huge shift from the first three Resident Evil titles and the completely bizarre setting is what makes it so unique. Plus Ada is in it and she's so cool. Like, really, they could have called this game "Resident Cool" because all of the coolest characters are in this game.

Pretty good game. I enjoyed it. Would recommend it on sale though, as it is pretty short.

Now that I've beaten Alien: Isolation, I can finally talk about it. Basically, I can understand why PC Gamer gave it such a great review, because this game is what every fan of the franchise wanted. It carries so much of the same exact atmosphere and raw intensity from the first film that completely taken aback. I haven't played a game this good based on a film or film franchise since GoldenEye. And the fact that this was developed by Creative Assembly, best known for the Total War games, just makes it that more surprising at how good it was. I don't think they've ever developed a first person game.

About the game itself, you play as Amanda Ripley as she is abourd the Torrens, a private courier ship hired by Weyland-Yutani to pick up the recently found Nostromo flight recorder from the ship Sevastapool. When you wake up, you meet your crew, Samuels the android, Taylor the legal person, Connor the communications officer, and Verlaine, the captain and owner of the Torrens. After attempting to make contact with Sevastapool, you get a static response and decide to try and board anyway. Samuels, Taylor, and yourself put on EVA suits and use a line to cross from the Torrens to Sevastapool. This is where things start to go awry and you start to realize that Sevastapool is having serious issues. The line is cut, you're seperated and the real gameplay starts here, once you're aboard Sevastapool.

Similar to BioShock, you can learn about the history of the ship and the inner workings of it by listening to audio messages left on computers and tapes. As you make your way through the ship before finding your first friendly, you find out that the ship has recently been decommissioned and sold and people started looting and rioting after an accident. Without getting too much into the plot, you eventually learn that the accident was the alien, a xenomorph got on board and started causing havoc, creating an every man for himself situation. You get your first real taste of the alien after some gruesome cut scenes and this is where the stealth mechanics of the game kick into high gear.

The stealth mechanics in this game are great in that you'll really want to hide. Because the xenomorph is terrifying. Just absolutely terrifying. I was scared. I mean genuinely scared. The xenomorph is such a forbidding enemy and the way it creeps around as it searches for you whenever you make the slightest noise had me on edge so many times. There are other enemies in the game as well, specifically humans that don't like strangers, and faulty androids.

As the game progresses, you learn more about the problems and end up doing this and that (it's a lot of plot, this game is really story heavy).

I really loved this game. The atmosphere was intense, the music was great, the sound design was unreal, the animation was pretty good (I thought some of the walking animation for the xenomorphs was kind of clunky), and the level designs were fantastic to the point that some were eerily made to look like tech from the first film. Just fantastic work put into this game.

Just Cause 2 is one of those games that has an average storyline, it's cheesey but fun. But because of its open world, gameplay, patriotic music, themes of revolutionary regime change, and overall hectic chaos, it ends up being a stellar game that everyone can enjoy. There's so much to do in Panau but I'm sure everyone will just get through the Agency missions, a number of the stronghold takeovers and faction missions, as those are enough to get enough chaos to get through the game.

If you didn't play the first one, then you should know that you play as Rico Rodriguez. After the events of the first game, Rico formally retired from the Agency but is thrust back into action when his friend and mentor, Tom Sheldon, goes missing and is believed to have gone rogue on the island of Panau. Panau is also in turmoil as three paramilitary factions are rising after the President, Baby Panay, goes into hiding. Basically, the island nation is kind of like what I imagine N. Korea might be like, with propaganda and altered news playing everywhere. It's just a weird place.

You get to work for each of the three factions and get to know their leaders quite well as you get to do several missions for them. I mean, there are more faction missions than anything else in the game. Just to put it in perspective, I only did 23 faction missions and there were still plenty left on the map by the time I finished the main story. You won't be disappointed by them though. They might seem repetitive, but each faction mission has a different aspect or goal.

The open world is definitely the highlight, alongside the grappling hook / parachute gear Rico has. You could probably travel around the whole just parachuting and using the grappling hook against the ground to keep pusing you forward. Basically, exploring is a lot of fun. There are all kinds of terrain in the game, from forests, to desert, to snowy mountaintops. The highlight in the open world might've been the "Lost" island, where if you fly a plane or helicopter to it, it'll crash from electrical damage and you might even be able to find the smoke monster.

This game is just a lot of fun really. It has a few bugs and the textures aren't the prettiest, but if you're not having fun playing it, you're playing it wrong.

I spent a little over four hours working on a 455 piece puzzle of a wolf and got 280 pieces placed. It's like working on a puzzle in real life but without the hassle of having to fix the puzzle if someone bumps into the table.

After playing it for a little bit, I can see why people say this game is fun. It's an interesting board game with a unique set of rules. Personally, I probably won't spent much more time with it but I would definitely play a physical version of it with a few freinds for a board game party.

It's poker featuring beloved characters that make random but funny chit chat. What else do you need to know?

The first Saints Row was exactly what people said it was; basically a Grand Theft Auto clone in that you come off the streets, saved by a gang and join them, making friends while working together to take over territories of the other three gangs in Stiltwater. There's loyalty, deception, friendship involved. Plot twists and a cliffhanger lead to Saints Row 2, which evolved in that it was more comical with the personalities and action but the story had a darker tone. With the Saints dissolved, The Protagonists reconnects with Johnny Gat and brings back the Saints to stop the other three gangs from taking over the city.

Saints Row: The Third is just off the walls insane. The story is that the gang is now a world wide known franchise with Johnny Gat's face being the logo/icon, while The Protagonist is a media icon. They move to a new city after a botched bank robbery and what seems to be the death of Johnny Gat after a court trial/plane escape scenario. Basically, the game gets more and more insane as it goes along. The villains are more comical and hysterical and any resemblence of Grand Theft Auto in this franchise is completely gone. My one complaint might be the repetitiveness of the action. I felt like a god running around with a gun and killing people, the only things that were able to stop me were tanks, brutes, and aircrafts, and that was only if I ran out of rockets. This game is absolutely insane, in a fun way. It's a good quick playthrough if you don't do the extra stuff.

Despite some issues with the matter of whether or not choices matter, Telltale's take on the Game of Thrones universe proves to be the first game to tackle it well enough, having just the right amount of politics, violence, and story development. My biggest complaints are on the technical side of things.

Lets start with the story, though. I came to really like the story. I think the Forrester family and household would fit nicely in the books or the show, albeit they'd be much more of a background subject. Just like most things in Westeros, their story is quite tragic. The game starts with the Lord of the House, Gregor, being murdered during the Red Wedding. But you're playing the squire, Gared. Gared's story is sad because of how vindicated he becomes and how everyone tries to put him down. Ultimately, though, I think he'll have a huge impact in Season 2. There are several other Forrester's you get to play as, but, ultimately, the story is about their downfall as they keep their integrity. The Whitehills don't like them and they feel like they can do as they please. The only character whose story I would consider a comeback is Asher, as he works to travel back to Westeros from Essos. But, depending on choices, and either way really, things don't go well for him. Basically, the story is really complex and the choices can very and might have some impact.

On the technical side, it's a Telltale game. It looks bad, the AA is vacant, the animation is okay, the only thing that worked out well was the camera direction. At least the game is detailed with plenty of props and random stuff. On the plus side, the voice acting and music is phenomenal. And being that it's a Telltale game, I hope you like QTE's.

A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame is the imprisoned lightning, and her name Mother of Exiles. With silent lips, "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me..."

Wolfenstein: The New Order is a great reboot or soft reboot or whatever; I never quite got what it's place in the Wolfenstein timeline is, but I'd argue it's the best in the series when you consider the writing, the story, the quality of the characters, the level design and audio design. Technologically speaking, of course certain aspects of the game are going to be better than those that are older, but what really stands out in The New Order are the characters. I don't think BJ has had such development as a character, and while he doesn't go through any major arcs, it's the fact that his character actually character that matters. Plus the side characters of Anya, Caroline, depending on your choices, Fergus and Tekla, Set and Bombate, Max and Klaus, they all have to own personality and back story that you can try and delve into in between missions. It just adds something so unique to the atmosphere and world.

The story itself is quite interesting as it doesn't take place in the 1940's like the previous entries. It's set roughly 14 years after the end of WWII, so in this alternate history the game is set in 1960. It starts in 1946, but BJ suffers some serious injuries and is in a coma for 14 years. After the game's introductionary missions set in 1946, you wake up in 1960 as a group of Nazi's are in the midst of shutting down the asylum where he is under a group of doctors and a nurse's care (the nurse is the daughter of the two doctors). Waking up and full of rage, you go on your Nazi killing spree, trying to find the nurse as she was taken away. That nurse is Anya. Basically, that's the start of the epic saga of The New Order as you eventually find your way to the resistance group in Berlin who work with you to try and take down the Nazi regime, or at least part of it. I don't wish to spoil the rest of the story as it really is quite good.

My only complaints really are the incomplete options in advanced settings for changing the graphics.

Overall, great game. 9.3/10
