I would definitely recommend this DLC for a casual or low-stress play through.

Many people are complaining that some units feel week or mechanics feel too strong. I never had any issue here because I wasn't trying to min-max the game or mechanics when I played my campaigns. I didn't try to optimize my armies or ignore certain units in the DLC. I typically don't play higher than Hard - Very Hard campaign difficulty or hard AI stats, so keep that in mind with this review.

My favorite part of the DLC is the Arbaal campaign. I would mainly just teleport to a challenge, ravage the local area, summon a bunch of hosts and leave. No need to capture settlements or worry about defending. Recruit a supper elite Arbaal army and lay waste to the world in the name of Khorne. No need for a bunch of strategy or management when you have one safe province in the Chaos wastes and a single army you care about.

Essentially, just play to have fun. No need to worry about balance or min-maxing an empire. Wash over the Warhammer Fantasy world to collect blood for the blood god and skulls for the skull throne.

I recently purchased the game for $5 when it was on sale. I am very glad that I did. There are certainly a lot of glaring issues with the game, but I would recommend giving it a try when its on sale for $15 or less.

As the Russian Badger said in his recent video / review of the game, the highs are high and the lows are lows. Games where teamwork emerges and people are actively playing their roles to contribute to the team are exceptional! However, many games will feel like you are just floundering around a battlefield and getting horrifically massacred. There are also a fair amount of bugs (graphical and otherwise), and the load times can be uncomfortably long if you don't put the ~100 gig game on a SSD.

My favorite experience within the game so far has been playing the hardcore game mode. The hardcore mode seemed to be a better experience in my limited amount of playtime due to the higher expression of individual roles and minimized arcade feel. There may also be a higher level of competence and teamwork in this game mode, but I have not played enough to really give an excellent analysis. Essentially, the hardcore game mode felt the most like the Battle Field franchise I remember playing years ago, and this made the experience much better.

Overall, I would highly recommend the game to be bought when its on sale.

Interesting and fun rouge-like. Building the right kind of deck for each of the 9 classes can make your damage potential skyrocket.

A great game if you love a combination of resource management, tactical card fighting, and saving worlds. It's a great sequel to Thea: The Awaking that was a great game as well! I highly recommend both this game and the last for the potential amazing situations where you have super powerful rats, monsters, and demons!
