Early Access Review
I do not normally do reviews, but I felt this particular game deserves one. I have been playing this game for a while now to include repeated hours from the demo that came out for free, lol. The game is currently playable and I have not encountered any crazy bugs since the last update. What is currently implemented is working as it should. Example, I never really relied on residences because the function to provide dirty money to every facility within range was not working properly, now it is. Also residences now seem to know when to stop collecting dirty money once its storage is full, that was quite annoying especially if it caused attracting the attention of law enforcement every single time. There are a few things I would like to see and hope that they can consider it. First off I like that you cannot just simply afk and make tons of money, I was angry at first cause it seemed like it was cool I can go to bed and wake up in the morning to find i have millions of dirty money and a few hundred thousand clean money. Nope, game pauses cause some cartel member wants a raise or promotion so that scratched that. While the game is called Cartel Tycoon, I still do not get the feeling I am in a cartel or at least running one. We have a nice Cartel family tree so to speak, but it's quite limited. As you progress and eventually have a money making system in place, you really do not need members who have money making skills, what you really need is members in your cartel with more combat or attack points. I have been trying to figure out how to keep myself from getting any terror stars, but every time I've attacked a city controlled by a rival gang it takes so long to take over that I always seem to get that first star. I have tried every trick i can think of, I've even hired several members just to have that extra fire power. You would think odds of 26 cartel vs 6 enemy gang would mean I should win relatively quickly, however that was not the case. Every city, and transportation point needs to have an officer stationed there or else it generates a meter indicating a rival gang member will attack it. This makes good sense, but again we are limited to members of our cartel. I do not feel at this time we have enough to cover the map, and as I already set as an example with combat, try taking over the map with less attack power because you need to keep people in place. I hope they will implement the ability to recruit not just officers, but perhaps troops or guards for each area. I know this is just a game, but when I see shows like Narcos on Netflix lol, those guys had some serious hired man power. Each lab, building, and residences all had guards. This would help alleviate the need to leave officers behind, and also add more reason to make all that dirty money and clean money. I wanted to hire guards.

This is not Xcom, it's another bite off. I have been playing for a while now to get the idea of the game, and so far some things aren't making any sense. Androids for instance, wtf are they for again? wait we can only use them only after we've lost one or two of our guys between battles, and they simply replace them. WTF are they doing while we are fighting? sitting in the VAN playing cards! I'm in one mission that entails a boss and portal and I'm simply overwhelmed with the amount of mobs in there vs 4 agents. One enemy the boss, runs around, swiping for more dmg than any of your agents, run in hit, then run away. Another comes back to life with even more HP, and if you don't focus on him right away has an aoe acid attack, so you really don't have much of a choice but to kill this thing right away, because after the first round, another one of the same damn thing appears as reinforcments! Do we get reinforcements! NOOOOO! Then wait, the normal troops has what Grenades? no way.., how come we don't have Grenades, oh that's right they don't sell them in the store, we get flash bangs, and other senseless non damaging items. If your lucky enough with the amount of wait time and crap you deal with you may get enough to buy real dmg dealing grenades through the scavenger store, but even then The amount of turns to even have decent gear to fight in this type of battle is concerning. My guy with advanced rifles only do 2 - 4 points of dmg, wtf is that..., and the enemy does 5 or more. In other Xcom games, your people had room to move, we can set up. In this game, your stuck in an isolated room and melee mobs just have a fiesta with you; and while your being overwhelmed with the enemies reinforcements our two androids are just sitting back at the VAN PLAYING CARDS!

I do not post a lot, but for this game I have to. This game has eaten so much of my time without me knowing it. All I have kept thinking was to conquer that next land. It is a well made game, and I truly enjoyed it. The initial story campaign will set you up, and teach you the mechanics enough to be able to play the world map and be a true emperor. I just completed my first world map game and I can't wait to start over lol. All I ask is please someone make a Game of Thrones Mod for this game!
