Fantastic Game. Worth every penny I paid. Even with buying TW:W and all the DLC's.

I had played this game a long time ago on console and really enjoyed it. I had a co-op campaign with friend of mine, and would play after work. When I saw the game on steam I nearly bought it immediately, with hopes of a nostalgia play through. Then I noticed the really bad recent reviews, and decided to read them before purchasing. Ultimately, the incompatibility issues people were having with the game made me hold off on buying it. I left the game on my wishlist for a long time, and check on the reviews to see if anything had changed.

Several months later, maybe longer, it goes on sale for less than $4. I pulled the trigger and installed. Click play and nothing happens....so I browse the local files and set the .exe for the game to run in compatibility mode for windows 8. The game runs just fine. This took me perhaps 5 minutes to figure out, and I am not a computer whiz. The gameplay is fun, and the occasional snarky "one-liners" in game are kind of funny, and keep what would be monotonous combat fresh, and enjoyable.

This game is scratching that nostalgia itch for me right now, and I recommend this game if you like the top-down RPG's. Don't listen to all of the incompatibility reviews about a broken game. It works just fine with Win 8 compatibility mode.

Also, the Blind Guardian Quest is awesome!

I got this game shortly after launch. I enjoy space sim games like Elite Dangerous, EVE, etc. so I figured I would keep an eye on this game as well. In the beginning the learning curve was very steep, and made much worse by bugs. The struggle to dock an airlock to your home station was real.

I think the direction that the developers have taken movement is space to be amazing. I do not think there is a more realistic simulation for space flight and EVA's. The game also looks beautiful. Crank up the graphics and your eyes can melt with lighting effects in your ship. Sometimes literally.....the space jump effect was down right blinding.

At its core this is a survival game in space. You will die over and over again. Resources were hard to come by and buggy. Mining asteroids used to mean taking your life into your hands and risk getting bounced into space and break neck speeds, only to watch your ship vanish into the black abyss. However one time I got bounced and made the EVA back with only a few seconds to spare of oxygen.

I have never done anything PVP, but I have tried shooting some of my friends while on a space walk. Managing your XYZ velocity as well as your vector could be describled how Scotty described transwarp beaming. Finally hitting your target was really satisfying.

"The notion of transwarp beaming is like trying to hit a bullet with a smaller bullet, whilst wearing a blindfold, riding a horse."
– Montgomery Scott, 2258 (Star Trek)

Right now the game is rough, but is is always getting better. I check back in on the game every few patches to see whats new and I like where the Dev Team is heading. At the start, it was a mad dash for the devs to fix all the bugs that the community reported, and they were on top of it.

My suggestion is that if you even remotely like space simulation, and have some friends that are willing to try it as well. Go ahead and try it, get together and learn the game together, but don't expect a completely polished product. My experience with in game chat is that there was usually somebody willing to help out a new player, either by telling them how to do certain activities, or letting you join their crew. There is still a lot of work to be done here, but as it stands the game can still be fun.

Also, the trailer of this game is something that can really happen!

Edit: Sadly the development has been abandoned.

This is a fun game. It requires communication between crew members, as well as teamwork with your team members. The steampunk theme is very cool, and gameplay is unlike anything I have tried before. Try this game.
