Feels like broken Slay The Spire with a puzzle gimmick. But in the most wonderful way! Feels like it's easier to "break" the game with strong builds that lean into certain things. But still quite fun. Really fell in love with this very quickly. The builds are massively varied. The way the game teaches you, you can't bring everything is very well done. There's some quit glitchy i/o, and the information feels unitentionally incomplete. The characters so far are so different, It feels like the core mechanics are shaken up. And that's beyond how different a single character can play. The home base building is nice. It's a little unrefined, but it gives a good break between runs and a nice way to steer the player towards at least getting their feet wet with various key strategies. Really happy I got this! Been streaming it, and loving it, with or without an audience showing up. It's that fun!

A Slay The Spire like game with a fun new gimick layered over it is usually enough for me. But I am SO GREATEFUL for being able to have multiple plays going. Both multiple story modes, and multiple quick plays!!!! And to have the quick plays fully unlocked from the beginning. This is a HUGE improvement over pretty much all games of this style. It really frees me to not feel obligated to finish a run "right now" if I want to later return, but not now. Or with the game being new to me, if I want to just try out another character without killing a fun endless run build! I know this is against modern game design "wisdom" to allow this. But OMG is it so much more wise!!!! Just reason to not go into games with preconcieved notions of a right way to do things because they are an industry standard. Well done!

A top tier favorite of all time game for me. This Steam version is faithful in every way I see, and much more convenient.

Impressive scale of the game, personality of alien races, compelling asymmetrical battle mechanics, an amount and quality of voice recording far beyond typical for its age. People usually talk about the single player story, and that's great. But the "Melee" (vs) mode I find to be highly underrated! Also a big influence on games going forward. Namely Mass Effect, but all sorts of games.

A game I loved, just got DLCed to a point I don't care for. I think the DLCs are just cosmetic, But that matters. Just only for being missing or proportionally mismatched pricing for the content you get, but more because effort that could go into other things is going into that. It's a hard call, because at some point the devs do need additional compensation. I'm just tired of this model of compensation. I'm pretty much only for expansion style (a large quantity of content for 60%-80% the price of the base game, in which it can fairly be cosmetics and functionality). Steam phrases reviews as "do you recommend". Even though the game is mostly great, and I used to recommend, I don't really find myself recommending games like these. The more and more other games get severely egregious (SE being only minorly egregious), the less and less patience i have for even minor egregious models. I'm only interested in full experiences now. I bought SE when it was such an experience. But that's my fault, it was labeled EA.

The only other problem with the game, is hollow world. I'm no stranger to sandbox games with no aim. But this is a sandbox game with no life. The sandbox is amazing! What you can build is so cool, and makes you want to have your creations in a living breathing feeling world. They have added some things, but it's still so sparse and dry. There's a lot of "create your own fun", which is my prefered play style, but it's also "create your own life". You can see they've tried to address this with various AI challenges. And you can import great multiplayer scenarios. But it all feels too lacking. I'd be great with realistic space where most of it is barren. But there's not even the rare alive feeling planet.

Recommended as a FLIGHT game. Not recommended as a DRIVING game.

The sheer variety in the is game is mind boggling. You play that campaign, and it seems like a respectful amount of looks / biomes to it. And then you play the custom levels. Expecting limits to what was in the campaign. But oh no, the campaign doesn't even cover a fraction of the biomes. The whole experience is great eye candy!

Sadly, I always like the idea of flight games, but never end up enjoying them. I very much dislike the flying in this game. But if you like flight games, I do believe you will love it! If you like driving games, the game is a bit too dumbed down, but good for just a nice zen experience when you find the right tracks. But the game really shines as something fun and challenging for those who do like flight. The flight is by far where all the interesting mechanics come in. Well over half of it. So when you combine them, not dumbed down at all. Just the tracks I like are. And for those who do like the flight mechanics, there is an amazing amount of variety. More than you'd think. And a fantastic user generated content community that would make enjoyment never ending for you.

I don't hate having the game, but I probably won't be able to get much into it because of the flight mechanics. But that's a me thing. Really do think this is a phenomenal game for the right people. And hope this helped you know if you are one of them.

One of the most fascinating creative games. Both what the devs did, the emergent gameplay, and what the player has the power to do. Big win! The vanilla game has SO MUCH content, but is that enough, oh no there's workshop support too. Just astounding!

REVISED REVIEW:
I initially thumbed this game up because it was problematic, but it's great to see Professor Layton style games under a different IP, and on PC. But it's really an bad port. If this was the devs only game on steam, I'd probably give them the slack, but they have 4 games on steam. There's really no excuse for it to be in this poor of shape. I badly want to change this back to a thumbs up, but that's entirely up to the devs. Below is mostly the same I had to say when I had thumbed up the game....

I haven't gotten very far, and already it's problematic. It seems to be a bad PC port sadly. I'm thumbing it up because it's a great game concept, but if you play it on PC, you are playing a broken experience. And on Steam Deck it's even more broken, but still playable if you don't mind all the cut scenes being broken.

It starts with no resolution or full screen options. It is one single size. There's a Windows shortcut to make it full screen, I believe alt + enter? It would be nice to at least say that, but there should be basic video options.

When you go to leave, there's no menu option to close it, just standard Windows ways.

The second puzzle is a rhythm puzzle. It's as far as I've gotten. It has a tutorial which is nice, but it seems fundamentally broken. There's no cues on what to play. It brings up Playstation controller buttons. I only have an xbox controller, so i plugged that in, and hitting the corrosponding symbols didn't work. Plus these indicators flash on and off in a way that looks broken. Not like a rhythm game. I was able to fumble thorugh it by mouse clicking, which is completely contrary to the indicated playstation buttons they want you to press. But then you press on keys. It's far too alkward. I was able to just spam a single key and get past the puzzle, but I imagine I'll be locked out of progress because of how it looks like there's no effort to the PC port.

It really seems to be a greatly designed game. The whole idea of the game, the animation, the characters are just so good. I really can't express how strongly I am glad this exists. But this is in a really bad port technically. And really no excuse for a dev with more than 1-2 games on steam to be in this state.

Early Access Review
I played and had the game open for approximately 50 minutes. Last I closed the game, Steam reported 40-something minuted played. I have not launched it since. Somewhere between them and the following day, Steam reported 4.1 hours play time. No one else has access to my computer nor account, no family sharing is active. This is the first time I've noticed faulty reporting.

I sent Steam a report saying I had a problem with the wrong hours being reported, and instead of a human talking to me, I got what appeared to be an automated message, as there was no acknowledgement of the error reporting. Just saying "you played 4 hours, ineligable". I was even asking for proper fix to played hours, and only a refund if they couldn't do that.

Cannot trust Steam refund. Will have to go through credit card.

Not the most polished tier of puzzle games, but it works. And it's quite enjoyable! Defiantly put Handshakes 2 on my wishlist after playing. Wonderful concept, fun puzzles, generous "demo"!

Other than retro styled games, this is the only FPT/TPS that has felt good to me in years. It not only feels good for the uninspired time, but it feels top tier for all time!
