Early Access Review
A fun take on the original Half-Life as through the lens of a survival crafting game.

Not super far into it, but so far new recipes and materials have been steadily dripfed to me and my group. The atmosphere and the worldbuilding clearly have a good amount of love put into them.

DEFINITELY play with friends. Playing solo is prolly still great on it's own, but roving around as a band of semi-murderous scientists armed with literal garbage can't be beat.

A fun, cozy little game about exploring colorful environments and collecting cute little creatures, all while interacting with a fun cast of characters.

I enjoyed the hell out of this game, 100%ing it over the course of about a week. The designs of all the Snax are adorable, as is their sound design, and I enjoyed that the puzzle solving to catch most of them was challenging, but not frustrating. The villagers are all fun to interact with too and the underlying, somewhat sinister plot kept me hooked and asking questions the whole way through.

One thing I particularly enjoyed was that the tools that you unlock throughout the game always felt useful. None of them felt like they were designed for one part and were just left in the wheel for no reason.

Complaints? Only complaint I can think of off the top of my head is the transformation mechanic (where the villagers change attributes based on the snax you feed them) can't be undone, so character designs get thrown out the window unless you restrain yourself from feeding them snax. Apart from that, minor complaints such as the Lunchpad feeling sometimes weird to jump to a higher place is annoying, but not experience dampening.

I would deeply, DEEPLY recommend this to anyone. ESPECIALLY if you dig chill, semi-laid back adventure games. Worth the money.

A fun physics based puzzle-platformer. Can be a little on the frustrating side at times, though, particularly when it comes to making tricky jumps.

Character customization is always a big seller for me and this game delivers, allowing to paint directly on the character model. My only complaints about it are that you have to zoom in and out to get to certain parts of the body which can lead to uneven lines and that the brush bleeds through to whatever part is directly underneath the part you're drawing on, meaning you can accidentally paint over hard to recreate detail work. Thankfully, Crtl+z is a thing so most of the time you can undo your mistakes.

I don't think I'd be recommending this if I played it by myself. I highly advise convincing a few friends to pick this up as well if you're interested.

Lucius 2, while a very flawed game, is pretty good in my opinion.

Where Lucius 1 had a problem of forcing you to complete objectives in very specific ways, Lucius 2 has a problem of giving you near weightless "choices". While there are some interesting ways to off people in this game. they can be hard to pull off and if you miss your mark you may as well restart the level in most cases. For the most part you'll find yourself killing people in one of a handful of ways: Using grease to throw them down drops, poisoning them or shooting them with the nail gun.

You do get some fun powers to play with, like the ability to posess people or the power to ignite fuel sources at range. I personally didn't find myself using too much outside of the tree that gave me access to telekinesis and posession. Maybe I'm just boring.

The levels are large and fairly interesting, ranging from multiple levels of a hospital building to a small rural downtown area. Some of these levels are a bit confusing in layout and it can be easy to get lost or find yourself back in the area you just came from. The areas are filled with interesting things to experiment with, guaranteeing you at least a few worthwhile kills before you'll have to resort to the three listed above.

All in all this game, like Lucius 1, is not going to be some peoples cup of tea. It can be frustrating at times and it can get a little boring if you manage to miss all of your unique kills.

Would I reccomend it? Yes, but probably only on sale.

Pros:
-Decent gameplay
-Ego boost minigames can be a fun distraction
-The shrunken and sections driving sections are a nice change of pace
-Duke's machismo and testosterone fuled one-liners are a hoot
-WHITEBOARDS!

Cons:
-Gameplay is nothing special
-Ego boost minigames can be frustration (I'm looking at you, pinball)
-The cave level
-Hearing the same 4 one-liners over and overagain gets tiring
-Even on the hardest diffuculty, the game isn't too challenging, save for a few bosses (screw you, Octobrain King)

Overall, Duke Nukem Forever has some flaws, but it's a pretty enjoyable experience all around and I would reccomend it if your looking for something a little sillier in the FPS genre, especially if it's on sale.

Octodad: Dadliest Catch is great! The humor is well written and well timed, the characters are colorful and interesting, and the whole thing just feels really well done.

I only have one major complaint in that It's a little too short. I know that I shouldn't expect an $11 game to go on for days, but it definitely could have used at least one more level.

Its annoying that turning down the shader quality makes some of the transparent textures almost completely opaque, but apart from that, the rest of the game is fantastic.

I highly reccomend this game to anybody even thinking about buying it. But, if you do decide to get this, be sure to play with a gamepad. The mouse controls aren't bad, but it's much more fun with a controller.
