Good game. Devs are really working hard on it giving us new content faster than any other early access game I've ever played. Two thumbs up!

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME IF YOU HAVE A HIGH END SYSTEM.

1) Game doesn't support HOTAS or HOSAS except on a super small amount of peripherals. The community doc, yeah players had to come up with workarounds, does a shoddy job getting them to work as well since it is done through a basic text file in order to remap bindings to default controller buttons.
2) Game isn't designed to work with super-ultra-wide monitors. Nothing quite as lame as when a menu resizes itself to chop off important things if you play at a high resolution. I'm sorry, I do NOT want to play in windowed mode. I have a super-ultra-wide for a reason.

Refunded after less than an hour played because this is BS for a game released in the 2020's. Nobody should have to spend several hours to get it working on a high end system. The fact they only have native support for cheaper systems, in a simulation game, where true fans will likely have expensive hardware, says a lot about the game and the developer.

The game really is a lot like Rimworld, and fun for the most part. This EA version definitely will need a lot more content, but it seems early in the development cycle when looking at their roadmap.

The reason I do not recommend this game is it will often freeze. In the middle of your game, randomly it seems, it'll freeze for anywhere from 30 seconds to over FIVE MINUTES. While the random freezes are annoying, even more annoying is how much it freezes while it saves. Each time you save the game it will freeze from 20 seconds to over a minute. This is true even for auto-saves, which by default happen every single game day. Imagine playing for 20-30 minutes then having the game guarantee to freeze on you for a minute. Another 20-30 minutes later, another guarantee freeze. This absolutely ruins any fun you might be having.

If they fix the freezing, while it isn't super (the AI isn't the best but not the worst) I'd change my recommendation. Until then, definitely skip this game as it'll leave you super frustrated.

Game is starting to feel dated, but still pretty good several years after release. Worth it if you mod it quite a bit and/or get it on sale.

This game is a classic in the RTS genre.

If you enjoy RTS games, and want an experience without some of the super deep multi-resource management that some games give, this one might just be for you. Resources are but a single type in this game, which works just fine in my opinion. It doesn't really need multiple types of resources. People looking to manage tons of different resources might just be disappointed.

When it comes to the story, these games are very good. Cut scenes are a bit old-school with their graphics, but the remastered version is definitely remastered and even better looking. Don't expect super realistic graphics, but do expect to have your mind go "woah" when you experience twist after twist in the great stories.

When it comes to the challenge and game play, these games are pretty good. You can't adjust the difficulty (that I can find) but you definitely are going to be challenged. Thinking in 3d (heck yeah!) can help quite a bit because you do additional damage if you attack the sides of an enemy ship (anything other than front = more damage). Surprising the enemy AI isn't likely, but that's alright. If you find the game too easy, setup your own challenges. You have the ability in this game to "capture" enemy ships. When I first played it, I set myself the challenge to build the biggest fleet possible capturing as many enemy ships as possible while making sure that mine don't die. That was VERY difficult. Find that makes it too easy later because your fleet is too big? (yeah your fleet and resources are persistent) then perhaps challenge yourself to NOT capture any ships, see how you fair. Plenty of ways to challenge yourself here in other words.

Graphics got a good leg-up with this HD remaster. Definitely much better looking textures, though the models themselves might feel a bit dated if you zoom way in (fewer polygons than you might expect). Audio also had a great job done on it's remastering. Everything sounds excellent so far.

Now I'm not going to say the game is without flaws. Sure, almost every game has some. In the last 5 hours that I've played, the game crashed to desktop twice. Annoying sure, but I got in the habit long ago to make lots of saves so I don't every really loose much time. Multiple saves across multiple missions is also a good idea, as you might think you beat one mission "well enough" only to find yourself low on resources and ships later on.

I've also experienced some of the same bugs that were in the game back when it first came out. Sometimes the pathing for the ships isn't the best and a few will all get hung-up together. Simply find the one messing them up and then tell it to move and the others will begin moving again. I've also seen several instances where the capture ships will latch onto an enemy ship but not move it towards your mothership. No problems, undock them and recapture the ship and you are going to be fine. Little things like this DO show up in the game, so don't expect it to be perfect.

Still, the experience that is Homeworld and Homeworld 2 is beyond a doubt one worth visiting. If you played them and really enjoyed them in the past, you will DEFINITELY enjoy them again. It has been long enough that many won't remember all the details or story as well. If you haven't experienced these games before, they are still worth thinking about taking a look at. Remember, you are getting TWO complete games here for $35 so that isn't too bad! If you still don't like that, just wait for a sale and then you must pick it up. If you didn't like Homeworld before, you probably won't like it now. Duh!

Anyways, two thumbs up for this HD remaster and two excellent games. Here's wishing that they'd make a Homeworld 3 with today's technology and game design powering it!

Pretty fun so far. I look forward to the future of this game and what it'll be like when it is finished.
