My partner and I are escape room weirdos who are always looking for co-op puzzlers. Operation Tango really nails collaborative, simultaneous puzzles that require working in tandem rather than asynchronously taking turns reading details and standing around.

If you like games like Escape Simulator or the We Were Here franchise, pick this up.

PS. The hacker role is basically everything I've ever wanted from a hacking component in a game. You fly through the internet, you hack the mainframe, it's all pixels and sh*t, 10/10

While 'living in a simulation' is a classic trope, the narrative of this game and the documentary format in which its told really clicked for me. The gameplay isn't the most complex but there are solid puzzles and the team has clearly gone out of their way to make the action scenes t e n s e. The bad guys are classic evil mega-corp and the longer you play, the more you realize which companies certain aspects are nodding to and the more depressed you get about reality (affectionate.)

The art style is also just very pleasing and smooth•°*”˜

If you want a platformesque puzzle with good story and setting, do recommend getting depressed about capitalism with American Arcadia.

I'm a big language and abstract thinking person so this game scratched an itch I didn't know needed to be scratched. I felt an instant draw to this format in a way I hadn't felt since playing Journey (another no-language communication game) when it was first released.

On top of learning multiple dialects and how they work, you're treated to an exposition of plot through the lens of different inhabitants of the world. If you're an explorer-type in games there are lots of little nuances scattered around to make the world richer.

Once I started this game I only took two breaks before finishing it: once to go to SLEEP and once to go to my JOB. Those were dark times, and I'm glad they're over now.

This is a game I picked up while Going Through It ™, which turned out to be a very good choice.

It's perfect for anyone who likes idle games, cozy games, decorating, and completing collections of objects. It's also very helpful when you need some quick-hit serotonin. Do with that info what you will.

If you work in a corporate setting, you will like this game.

If you're the emotional support friend, you will like this game.

If you get off on cutting people off, boy will you like this game.

This has replaced Animal Crossing. I didn't think another open world game would have the pull of my personal island full of cats, and yet now I lust for Viking architecture and putting ASCII faces on signs.

Even as an early access game, this is interesting and compelling to play through the combination of exploration and physical world-building. You can play through the core story or you can spend 50 hours building a bridge down a cliff. Oddly specific? Don't @ me about it. If you're someone who likes fantasy-styled games but never quite got into things like Minecraft, this might be a good jumping off point into a new genre.

I'm not normally one for thriller/horror games (read: am a big chicken) but this game was fantastic and unsettling without being terrifying. Everything about the world felt engaging and fresh, and there's still lore I haven't read.

If you're worried about jumpscares, you don't need to be. Control has lots of other ways to get your attention.
