If you're looking for an exciting RTS with innovative unit design and customizability, well, look somewhere else. If you want an okay, by the numbers RTS and this happens to be on sale, I guess you can do worse.

I found this game, while deeply enjoyable, to be not quite as good as the original, and I'm having trouble figuring out why. The characters are more interesting, the gameplay is more intuitive, the visual asthetic delivers the feel of a city truly experiencing a disaster of this level where the first game failed in that regard. I suppose that my real problem is that Heller feels invincible, while Mercer felt very vulnerable in the first - and he survived a nuclear warhead from a few meters away. The sandbox is smaller, the new enemies feel a little tacked on, and none of the bosses really inspire that gut wrenching terror that you got in the original Prototype (none of them made me want to toss my computer out the window either, and the first game definately brought me to that precipice).

All in all, it really delivers a long, fulfilling and well rounded experience. Oh yeah, and you can rip a tank in half with your bare hands if you level your character right.

This game has boring characters and setting, it moves slower than any game I've ever played, the sandbox is small and dismal and I've played puzzle games that were more immersive. The only reason I played it through was to see what happened to Desmond and the "end of the world" senario set up by the previous games. I don't plan on going back for the 100% completion.

This game is beyond awesome. Fast paced and brutally difficult in places, but also colorful and light hearted, it reminds me of the fun I had with Tetris and Dr. Mario back when puzzle games tried to kill you just as much as Contra or Super Mario Bros. That would have been enough, but you can also level up, recruit new characters and outfit your team with weapons and items that subtly change the way you play. The secrets in every level are generally easy enough to unlock with your own observational powers and they do reward you richly. And I was delighted to discover that going back to a level that I'd already passed doesn't simply rehash the level as it was, but gives a new and challenging experience on the same map, should you decide to partake in it.

The only thing about this game that you will not enjoy is realizing that the hours of your day have completely evaporated.

Everything about this game is good: the visuals are stunning, the subject matter is interesting, and yet, I just can't get into it. It was sold as an exploration of Alzheimer's, but it really just comes off as all the sci-fi technobabble from Assasin's Creed without anyone to stab.

I like the idea of games as art, and I don't want to come off as someone who has to be killing orcs with an MP40 all the time, but this title is just a little too much art and too little game for me.

It's a great concept and a deep story, but in the end you're just chopping down hundreds of monsters over and over again, losing track of what you're doing, and fighting some fairly traditional boss battles. I've started this game three times and never made it to the end because somewhere in the fourth act I just stopped caring.

Don't get me wrong, I love this series. Running around shooting swarms of crazy looking enemies with crazier weapons is both hilarious and a massive adreniline rush. This particular game, however, was built by the fans and it shows. There is little or no direction to the only way out of any level and the monsters are put into senarios that don't play to their strengths or themes. Skip this one, play the other Painkillers instead.

Some of us aren't hard core gamers; we don't have a ton of time for gaming or the energy to keep track of some giant, overblown story arc. I actually am one of those people, but even I can enjoy the simple genious of a game like Triple Town. There are few challenges other than those you place on yourself, you can stop whenever you like (though often you won't want to) and pick up where you left off, and your personal kingdom will grow and evolve as you play along.

If games are a passtime and not a passion for you, you will find many hours of bliss in this charming little game.

Spiral Knights combines a beautiful visual environment with a simple yet strategic battle environment that is reminicent of your favorite Zelda games. Add in the fact that the community is generally polite, friendly and appropriate (at least in the clockworks) and you have a rich overall experience. Oh, and it's free.
