I'm not sure I understand the criticism this game receives.

I love the older Call of Duty games as much as the next person, they feel great and influenced the FPS gaming scene even up to now. This game is different to the old games, even more recent ones up to MW3, it's got your exo-suit mechanics that everybody loves to hate but honestly, it's exectuted fantastically.


PROS

• Extremely fluid movement, perfect system from BO3
  
• Sniping is satisfying and all snipers are viable in their own way
  
• The game is very fast paced, and really gets adrenaline going
  
• Gunplay, as usual, feels great and everything handles well
  
• Hybrid weapons are a fun mix up of game mechanics and add some extra strategy and freedom to classes
  
• Operator payloads (special abilites) don't charge too often and aren't too overpowered - looking at you BO3
  
• Many many many camo choices which all look vibrant and great, even gold which has looked bad for a few games!
  
• Zombies fleshed out and has a great theme
  
• Mission teams encourage you to approach matches differently with one time challenges
  
• Map design is great with a fantastic focus on verticality to complement the movement

CONS

• Supply drops, which can be bought with real currency, can drop pretty ridiculous weapons, such as the EBR - Bomber or Reaver - Machete
  
• Aside from core modes, there is a real lack of players in types such as gun game
  
• DLC is pretty expensive
  
• No ability to choose Search and Destroy, I don't get why

Overall, I think this game is a great improvement on the newer exo-suit formula, and stands out among the more recent titles from this franchise. While micro-transactions are present, they impact the game to a lesser degree than in a lot of other games as of right now.

I would recommend this game to anyone who has enjoyed Call of Duty since BO2, or any similar franchises.
