No Man's Sky is one of many survival open-world sandbox games. This one in particular focuses more on exploration than building, though base-building is still an important mechanic in this game. My favorite part of this game has so far been going from star system to star system and just looking at all the cool stuff that's present on all of the planets. There are so many beautiful biomes to experience, as well as some not-so-pretty but still fascinating nonetheless! I'm one of many players who spends far more time going to do things like farm various sites for certain resources or scan for new animals than I do actually going on quests. Much like many other games in this genre, it has its fair share of bugs and idiosyncrasies. For example, a by-product of going around from place to place the way that I do means that sometimes parts of quests will be "picked up" in one of the places you are at, and it may not be obvious later where the game expects you to go when you want to pick up where you left off on a quest. I've had to start some quests over because of this. Other weirdnesses I experience, such as clipping into random things or wrong items showing up are resolved by simply restarting the game. Sometimes the game will also send you to the wrong place altogether. For example, it's currently asking me to make a thing and to find the recipe for that thing in a place, which is simply not possible until I've completed steps of a different quest, but I had to go to a fan-based Wiki to find that out. Motion sickness is also a problem for me in this game, but adjusting some of the settings has helped mitigate most of that.
Overall, if you are a lover of exploration like I am, then I would whole-heartedly recommend No Man's Sky. If you're looking for a Minecraft-like experience that allows you to build with literally anything that you find, then you may want to look elsewhere, as the building materials are not especially diverse here.
