Early Access-recension
7 Days to Die is an Alpha game still under development since 2013. It's now almost 2025 and version 1.1 is here and still going strong. The developers keep in close contact with the player base through their forum and are often seen to be interacting directly. Feedback is therefore direct, flowing in both directions. This game has developed over the years into an excellent example of a post apocalyptic zombie survival game.

With a large crafting system, ability to create custom bases to defend against zombies, other players and, in the future, NPC bandits, it has something for everyone. Being voxel based, everything in the game is destroyable, just as your imagination is the limit for buildings you can create.

The game can be played in single player or multiplayer modes. Multiplayer is also divided into two categories, peer-to-peer (create a server on your PC and invite other players to participate in a LAN party) or dedicated server. Dedicated server can be run on the PC you play on, but is not recommended, or make use of an old PC/laptop using either Windows or Linux as the operating system. Dedicated servers can also be rented from external providers for as little as $10 per month. The advantage of running a dedicated server is you can make use of server mangers such as CSMM, Server Tools or Botman. These server managers make use of Alloc's Server Fixes (a dedicated server only mod created by one of the developers) which give additional functionality such as teleports, an in-game economy, anti-cheat systems including global bans for miscreants, player tracking and many other Admin tools.

It is very easy to clock up thousands of hours in this game. It is so flexible so as to be played in any manner that suits the individual. Highly recommended.
