The controls are horrible and the FOV is just too narrow. I have VR legs and never got motionsickness from a 2D game before, but it happened with this game. Needs optimizaton to be playable.

It really is an awesome game. There are some bugs, but I did not come across anything game breaking. Most are just funny. It would have been a perfect game if they had waited a bit longer with their release, now it is just a very good game. Performance and visuals were very good; don't get it on a PS4 but on a decent pc it should run fine.
I found the story very immersive and absolutely enjoyed it. It was well worth my money

If you play on a flat screen, with TrackIR the flight experience is ok.

However, I find that there are so many issues that should not be present in such an expensive game that I cannot recommend this to others.
A list of the issues:
After you buy the game on Steam, you will download a launcher that will actually download the game. This launcher is super buggy (I had to download the game twice because it crashed). Moreover, the download speed is super slow. The need for an XBox account and this downloader just create a mess that makes everything tedious for no reason.

If you manage to get it installed, it will take you forever to set up your controls (I have an X55 HOTAS) the UI is just a mess, completely illogical.

The performance on a flat screen is ok, but I like to fly in VR. Now I am used to flying in DCS, and I can live with 40-45 fps (80-90 with reprojection). However, the slide show that this game produces is just unplayable and should never have been released. I thought I knew what a poorly optimized game was like with DCS (which runs on 2 CPU cores) but I was wrong. It is absolutely terrible on the lowest settings with 70% resolution scale.

My system:
Valve Index
AMD 3700x @ 4.1 GHz
32 GB 3200 MHz RAM
RTX 3090
M.2 SSD

The formula 1 game we have all been waiting for!

Codemasters finally did it, after the horrific 2015 game they made 2016 exactly what we wanted.

pros:
-safety car
-vsc
-realistic tyre strategies/management (with time predictions)
-voice commands to give your engineer instructions/ask info (tyre choice for next pit stop, info on drivers, info on weather, info on fuel, basically everything)
-very nice multiplayer championship mode that allows you to play with friends, save progress between sessions and continue later with the same scores (just awesome!).
-AI has been improved, you can actually have battles with the AI that last for longer periods of time
-AI get penalties for their stupid moves (don't get me wrong, it's still AI afterall...)
-career mode allows you to modify and improve your car based on practice sessions (they actually have a use :) )

cons
-does not support trackir (which is a shame, previous games used to support this, it can't be difficult to implement and would help so much for immersion/spacial awareness)

solid 50fps+ on max settings with:
i5-4670k @4.4 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780, 3GB
Logitech Driving Force GT (locked wheel at 360 degrees in driver software, replugging wheel before every session to avoid calibration issues)

Summarizing the experience:

*glitches
*glitches are not being fixed
*players leaving due to glitches/exploits/hacks
*you end up playing with lagging, non english speaking Chinese people

Only plus side:
*works well with the Steam Controller (especially when using the gyro)

Don't buy this ubisoft piece of garbage (in fact don't buy any ubisoft games)

Project Cars; a nice racing simulation for you and your friends.

And that's it, because the AI is an utter piece of crap. When you first start playing this game you are amazed by it's stunning graphics, vast number of tracks and the big selection of cars to choose from. Starting the campaign in the lower tiers, karts or clio cup for example, can be a bit frustrating. But if you skip that and head straight for the higher tiers like GT3, endurance or FormulaA/B/C you will have a great time.

But then, after mastering the class you like best you will want a bigger challenge and a bit more in depth realism. If you turn up the AI difficulty you will face a new problem. Now your not in front of the pack but have to actually overtake them. And this is where the AI seems extremely aggressive or just oblivious to your presence. They seem glued to their racing line and simply do not care if you are on the inside of that corner or just anywhere near, they will hit you and make you rage!
Turning up tyre wear has similar results, the AI will not pit (there is no option to force a mandatory pitstop in multiplayer or a single player quick race), resulting in punctures (and with punctures i mean 90% of the pack will drive around on 3 wheelrims with sparks flying everywhere) and slow moving zigzagging AI that is even more dangerous than the normal AI.

However, if you decide to buy this game along with some friends and play it together you can have an amazing experience. The online lobby works well, with only a few connections issues encountered. Settings for the multiplayer games are limited. Options like "endurance settings" (time limit, a selection of multiple car classes) are lacking. But options like time progression (allowing for day/night cycles in a more reasonable time) make up for this. I've had amazing races with my friends, with fights for first position that lasted the full 20 lap race!

Another positive point would be the extreme customisation you can do on your car setup. You can change EVERYTHING absolutely everything, I've played multiple racing games like the F1 series, but this is just so much more complex. However saving setups and pitstrategies seems to be a bit buggy. If you make changes you can never really be sure it actually saves it, leading to unnecessary refuelling or wrong tyre pressures.

On my I5-4670K @ 4.4GHz and Asus GTX780-DC2 3GB graphics card this game runs very smooth, 70+ FPS on max settings

TrackIR works out of the box, no configuration required

My Logitech DrivingForce GT worked out of the box aswell, just to be sure I calibrated the brake and throttle, but I don't know if that was needed, no further setup was required but again if you want your FFB setup different there are many options you can change.

Overall I would recommend this game if you have people to play it online with untill the AI is updated and improved.
