The game is broken and unpolished and lacks in its VR implementation.

Poor game engine optimization resulting in stutter where there should be none when smooth locomoting and looking at static art assets. Nothing breaks immersion more than that. And too many cheap shortcuts on the art assets - e.g. looking out a window, there's been no effort to make it look real.

The opening premise might look interesting, but the actual gameplay is awful, clunky as all hell, and super repetitive, plus the story is just a jumbled mess and the game basically ends without any satisfying payoff. The voice acting is good, that's about it. Played the remastered version.

Not time well spent. Don't waste your time.

Alan Wake 2 looks to be a lot better without all the shortcomings of the original.

More a movie to passively listen to than a game. There is no gameplay elements at all.

The movement is way too slow.

Imagine having to passively sit through a 4 to 5 hour movie.

We are expected to care about characters but the Devs never bother to show any of the characters' faces. This makes following who is who unnecessarily complicated. There should have been a cutscene at the beginning showing all the characters going about their daily lives before the main event occurred.

The game has you looping over and over again through the same areas inducing tedium.

The ending offers no payoff or resolution.

And the Devs abandoned the game with a known bug on Nvidia systems that results in low framerates. There's a self fix you can do if you search through the Discussions.

The only thing this experience has going for it is the voice acting and overused art assets.

Excellent, memorable story, good game.

Zero interest in this old game with old mechanics and an absurdly clunky interface.

Pavlov already has all of these maps and they're beautiful in VR.

Yes, this is a hot steaming pile of garbage. The design and lack of intuitive approach is awful. Massive time waste and time suck.

Very rough experience with immersion-breaking level transitions taking you out of the experience, plus the need to teleport to get up on levels to advance just feels cheap, grenade throwing felt like it was broken, the story if there is one is too vague, and game objects aren't explained well.

Very rough, constantly immersion breaking experience with embarrassingly brain-dead enemies, awkward NPCs, smooth turn speed isn't calibrated right, hands look and behave like bricks, and too many other problems to list here. Game is not ready for prime time.

For a VR game, this is really boring.

It feels uninspiring, endless spamming of brain-dead enemies, objects are 2D not 3D, movement is floaty, graphics are ugly, there's no physics.

It’s basically the opposite of everything that makes a game like Ancient Dungeon look beautiful, have presence and feel immersive.
