Forget Star Citizen or Elite Dangerous, X4 foundations is the best space simulator on the market. Leaps and bounds ahead of the competition in its living economy trading, factions, with supported fleet and base buildings. It destroys elite dangerous with its custom cockpits for each ship just like star citizen. X4 has amazing art design not just the ships, but the level of detail in the space stations and modules as well. I was able to jump out of my space suit and actually go inside an advanced electronics factory and see its working parts from the first person, amazing attention to detail! Combat and progression is happily not a grind fest with no pay walls keeping you from progressing. Think Elder Scrolls Morrowind in space and you get x4. The level of freedom is staggering almost to a fault but i prefer it this way and so do many of the x series fans. Only wish the random missions weren't so repetitive and bland. Yes there are bugs but no game breaking ones, this is a great "foundation" for them to build upon, still some performance issues but considering the massive scope of features they included that star citizen and elite can only dream about, all is forgiven. Controls are exceptional there are many innovative techniques like holding ctrl or shift and everything was customizable. The lack of good writing, story, cut scenes, and player choices is the only thing preventing this game from being a masterpiece. Overall 9/10
