Don't take this pseudo JRPG in stride...

I can safely say that Wolfstride is unlike any other game that I have ever played. Are there others like it out there on the market? Most assuredly. But none have as much thought or attention to detail put into them, if you ask me.
I won't be providing any kinds of spoilers here, other than to say that this action-packed visual novel perfectly encapsulates the experience of playing an anime protagonist with a shadowy & tragic past. Everything from the visuals, to the exchanges of dialogue, to the story and setting and the relationships between the myriad of characters that comprise it all — it all coalesces into something akin to perfection.
Even if you're not a fan of the various series that clearly inspired it ('Trigun', 'Cowboy Bebop', 'The Big O', 'Outlaw Star', 'Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann' and 'Cannon Busters' just to name a few), I'm still going to highly recommend this game. It's got everything you could ever want from one of its kind; heart, humor, action, suspense, drama, and big effing robot battles! (And who doesn't love big effing robot battles?)
But perhaps the best thing of all is the value. This game is only 15$, when in reality it ought to be at least thrice that. God tier levels of work have been put into this thing. The voice actors do an outstanding job of propelling the narrative forward in ways that a lot of diehard otaku would say was impossible to do outside of Japan. The visuals make you feel like you're playing something produced by Madhouse or Studio Trigger, who have produced some of the most famous anime of any generation, past or present. And that soundtrack?! Oh, man. It's the icing on the proverbial cake!
So, yes, I am going to recommend Wolfstride to everyone that I know. Raw Fury and OTA IMON have teamed up to deliver a must-have gaming experience. 5 out of 5 stars.
Well, what're you waiting for, trash?! Get in that cockpit and punch Earth in the face!

Part of me wants to turn my thumb down at this game, simply because I'm unable to play it nowadays. I'm not sure how some of the other reviewers, whose posts are only hours old in more than a few cases, got it to work. It has not yet been optimized for modern machines; try as I might the game simply won't launch. And that is heartcracking, because when this first came out I sunk 13 hours into it; playing through it all, multiple times, in one sitting. The visuals, the gameplay, the mechanics, the story, are all deserving of praise. If you know you can play this, and want to, I cannot recommend it enough. If you can't, but still want to, let your voice be heard; find a way to tell the devs to update this so that the games of today can experience it without issue.

“There is no worse tyranny than to force a man to pay for what he does not want merely because you think it would be good for him.”
― Robert A. Heinlein, author of Starship Troopers

"The voice of the intellect is a soft one, but it does not rest until it has gained a hearing. Ultimately, after endlessly repeated rebuffs, it succeeds. This is one of the few points in which it may be optimistic about the future of mankind, but in itself it signifies not a little." ― Sigmund Freud (a man born on the 6th of May, in the year 1856)
