Oh boy here we go.

Let me start off by saying I'm a die hard FromSoft fan. I've always said that the Dark Souls series is a piece of art, played countless hours of DS1 PvP, and I even did some speedruns for fun.
With that said, at least read my thought before you spam me with hate.

When it comes to Sekiro.... I gotta say I'm extremely dissapointed.
The game is beautiful beyond belief, music and sound are amazing, the story is interesting and gives purpose to pushing forward.
But when all is said and done, its the combat that is the core of any FromSoft games and Sekiro is no exception... Too bad this is where the game falls flat for me.

The combat in Sekiro is nothing but a tedious grind. Once you've figured out attack patterns, the enemies are trivial at best.
But what ruins it (for me at least) is the repetitive nature of it.
It goes as follows: hit-hit-parry-parry-hit-hit-parry-parry-dodge-hit-execute. Rinse and repeat.
There is no merit to playing agressive as the enemy only blocks, or dosen't get staggered mid attack, and you'll end up taking a hit.
So in order to win any fight is to parry (or block) untill the attack pattern ends and the enemy leaves a 0.5 second window for you to damage him.
This in itself makes combat stale and boring to the point every mob and semi-boss feels exactly the same.

I'm not saying Sekiro is a bad game at all. But as someone who enjoyed the good old fluidity of DS combat, Sekiro just falls flat and gives no sense of accomplishment.
The fact that you are only punished for pushing for attacks, and rewarded for playing patiently/defensive makes me feel bored.

This is my subjective opinion of Sekiro, and as I've said its not a bad game. It's just me not enjoying it.

TLDR: Its a good game, but combat is repetitive and stale.

Boring to play alone (imo), a TON of fun with friends.
Been a long time since I've enjoyed a game this much...
