A decent idea and a bit of fun for what I paid for it (~$3), but honestly one of the buggiest games I've ever played. The most severe one being teleported to the ice mountains simply by exiting a random cave halfway across the map.

Some of the design is good, but most of it just feels poorly thought-out and unbalanced. Progression is all over the place. Some stuff just doesn't make sense. Drown in lava? Take some damage and respawn at a nearby spot. Drown in water? You're just straight up dead.

A lot of time-wasting too, such as venturing to a new area, only to be told to go back to the village. And sure, you can explore anyhow, but since you didn't progress the quest you'll reach the goal of said questline but not be able to progress it because you haven't been told to progress further.

Janky as heck, but with a heart and soul that I find rare in games nowadays. Devs clearly have a vision for a game that covers a lot of interesting beats, and it's enjoyable despite the odd bugs and performance struggles.

I might recommend holding off for a bit while they get everything fixed up and sorted out, or if you have some patience and a sense of humor try it out as-is and laugh as your character crashes their bike into a tree and gets completely stuck in it.

Lost a week to this game, and then some.

Edit: Base game is worth the price. The DLC's are way overpriced for what they give. Reminds me of The Sims 'expansions' adding like 10 items. No thanks.

In a modern world of games that hold your hand and tell you exactly where to progress next, Kingdom: New Lands is a refreshing learning experience. You start with a horse, a bag of money, and some troops. Your goal is to rebuild a kingdom from nothing while defending it against the relentless demon enemy.

But that's not told to you. You need to learn through visual cues, trial and error, and your own ingenuity. Find an odd-looking statue in the forest? It has a purpose, of course. You can guess, but the only way to find out for sure is to try.

If you're looking for a nice, simple blend of tower defense and kingdom-building (emphasis on the simple), this is your game.
