Starts off really strong but suffers from somewhat of an identity crisis later on.

The initial few hours of the game has a really fun game play loop of exploring further and further out of your little safe space in the deserts and retrieving new plants/items as you do so but unfortunately at least for me I came across a few key points that ultimately means I don't think I'll be picking it back up unless I'm playing with friends or an update addresses some if not all of these issues.

The terraforming mechanics start off (expectedly) limited but upgrades to tools offer no noticable improvement later on. Being in deep water renders you unable to use your tools so the main way to undo digging water channels too deeply is to try and use the smoothing function from the banks.
A later "upgrade" allows you to dig channels quicker but little no control over the depth and the depth of the channels created by this tool tapers off with the added danger of a giant damaging AoE attached to the same tool which can and will destroy your crops.

Upgrades to springs permanently increase their water production even if it is not needed with no option to turn it back down. If you start redesigning your oasis at any point and cut off a water channel there is a very real possibility your water will break its banks and drown your plants.

Trees and other large plants cannot be moved upon reaching maturity without chopping them down and replanting elsewhere. This is compounded as a problem as a later quest has a heavy focus on farming large quantities of tree seeds.

The player made biomes don't give any visual indication of how far they can possibley reach out for and having multiple biomes in one area leads to some very strange overlapping with no way of easily resolving problems due to most of them being tied to previously mentioned immovable trees.

Enemies serve no real to threat to you but indirectly attack your garden with AoE's, drop puddles of corrupted land and can poison your plants, there is no way to know if a plant is poisoned unless you inspect it and even then it is easily missed. Although the enemies will attack you wherever you are the amount of offensive structures available make it clear that you are intended at least partially to fight at your oasis.

Dust storms can and will ruin your day. Small walls can theoretically be used to protect smaller plants but there is no UI elements or other indication I can find that tells you how far or how much protection this offers. Dust storms will also annihilate recently placed saplings.

Overall I think the game struggles a little to balance its exploration and base building/defence aspects. My initial instincts were to try and wall off my oasis but with enemy spawning based off proximity to the player and dust storms ignoring walls past a certain distance I am really not sure what the intended strategy is.
