This is an incredible point and click logic puzzle game about translating languages. It's very satisfying from beginning to end, and intuitive enough to solve all the way through without needing to look up answers. I highly recommend this to any puzzle fans.

Thank you to "Goomba" for finally making a beginner video for this game that helped me understand how to just get going on it without looking up a build guide. I created my own Eye of Dreeg Occultist, and am almost at the vanilla level cap and am having a blast. I'll update my review when I get to end game stuff, but leveling alone is fun enough, and enough content for the price to recommend the base game.

Disclaimer: Don't pick this up expecting a horror game, it's definitely action with horror elements.
I've actually been playing this game for longer due to receiving an early review code last week that I played on my work account. It's a game that will grow on you the more you play. What feels like clunky combat just takes some getting used to and becomes quite smooth and responsive the more you master it. Has a low skill floor at normal difficulty, but also a high skill ceiling where you can tear bosses apart once your rarities are leveled and you've gotten used to fighting aggressively.
If you are a fan of Parasyte The Maxim, you definitely need to check this out, btw. The story gives huge vibes of being inspired by it.
I think most players that don't drop Slitterhead right away will find themselves liking it more the further they get into it.
The only couple of downsides are a lack of enemy variety (this does not mean a lack of enemy mechanics, as even reskinned enemies will use different movesets quite often), and slightly dated graphics.

Sorry, devs, but i'm not downloading a 24 gigabyte update for a game that garnered recent mixed reviews. Do better. This used to be something special.

Upsides:
-Challenging but fair puzzles (except the first major puzzle of episode 5. Just do yourself a favor and look up the security pad scode. Even after the devs made a fix, it's still too easy to misconstrue what you're looking at and end up stuck)
-Great horror atmosphere
-Supernatural mystery story that hooks you in pretty well
Downsides:
-Not super well optimized. Had to set everything to low to get 60fps at 4k on a RTX3700.
-The survival minigames have vague tutorials, and you may lose a character or two figuring out what the game actually wants from you

Both up and down:
-Character deaths are permanent. Very cool for how it affects the story if you lose characters, and for having real stakes to your decisions and gameplay. Not that great when you try something that didn't seem all that dangerous and lose a character for it, though.

Overall - Worth picking up and giving a shot for horror fans.

An absolutely fantastic, charming, brain teasing puzzle box of a game.
The depth available is crazy! There is a pretty accessible main ending, and then you can just keep going with finding hundreds of secrets that unlock more and more. It's incredibly satisfying to see how far you can go before needing to seek the community's help for the last of what's available here.
A must play for metroidvania fans.
Dunkey's publishing company is off to a fantastic start with this!

I recommend checking the bullet points on the beforeiplay website entry for this game. I had previously gotten bored with it after a couple of runs, but was convinced to go back to it when I saw those few tips, which are spoiler free, btw.
This is actually a brilliant solo card game with elements of mystery, horror, and puzzle solving. Once it starts to click, it will quickly become a "one more run!" type of game.
By the way, my bonus tip: Don't forget to click in the bottom left when you start a new run and give different names to your characters! It may come back up in future runs.

Imagine finally doing a difficult mission perfectly, pulling off your plan you spent a good while piecing together, only to find out that at some point the game went offline during the mission, and none of it counts for anything.
Game would be a near 10/10 if being online to progress wasn't mandatory, but this aspect can literally ruin your experience.

Early Access Review
It's an early access game that they're allowing people to try out for free. That alone deserves a recommendation, because you're not losing out on anything but time to try it out.
It's dark fantasy Tarkov, so if you think that sounds enticing, it's worth looking at it yourself to see what you think.

Game has gone from a 1/10 to a 9.5/10.
Devs, I'd say 10/10 if you start re-running old expeditions, as those are easily one of the coolest aspects of the game, but they're only available for a limited time, and the gap between each new one could be filled with the old ones!
