Ark is a unique and extremely fun game to play. I promise you wont have an experience like this one with any other game.

I have come back to this game 3 different times and have seen the game from many different view points (all pvp servers). I have come up from being a newbie with a few friends with nothing to taking down and becoming the alpha tribe on our server. I have joined the game another time with several veterans and made a vicious push to the top just to get smacked down and lose the fight for alpha dominance. And most recently I have joined the game and played mostly solo on a populated server in my own little base up in the northern mountains, fighting mostly with the absurd environmental conditions and massive amounts of strong end game aggro wild dinos attacking my base and raising/breeding little cubs. Being a lonely nomad only having communication with the outside world when someone wanted pearls for something i needed. There are so many ways to play the game.

Pros:
- There are an insane amount of dinos in the game and they ALL have unique playstyles and purposes.
- Lots of unique and fun items to build for your own character.
- The world seems alive and you feel a real connection with your dinos and sense of accomplishment.
- You WILL have an adventure and tense moments
- Lvling up is fast which lets you get safer buildings quicker
- Builders paradise/nightmare lol
- Many ways to hide and protect your stuff from raiders (purlovas are god)
- Many different populated unofficial servers to play the amount and way you want!
- Many different Biodomes in each map with different creatures and unique enviromental hazards to deal with

Cons:
- Your base will get wiped by higher lvl tribes with more players due to below
- Jumping from server to server with everything you want is easy and quick aka (People build on 0 population servers and safely build up resources to jump to another server and raid bases when everyone is asleep and take all their stuff back to there server with no way to find out what server they are from)
- Hard to protect your dinos from raiders for more than a week or two without being in an alpha tribe
- Alpha tribes span through many servers with many many people
- Breeding on official servers is only safe on 0 population servers or for alpha tribes members.
- Lots of meta game exploits
- Chinese and Russian raiders offline raiders

PvP Server Flyer Nerf Rant: (This rant isn't for PVE servers. They received no benefit from this nerf).) This game has been getting a lot of negative reviews lately due to the recent flyer nerf patch. The Devs did a hard (and needed) nerf to flyers which made it so you cant traverse the whole map on a flying bird...in one go...if it was low lvl... point is the devs have already re buffed some of the birds and repurposed others to general thumbs up. This game has been dominated ever since the introduction of increased lvl cap by flyers since they came out. This patch has made the other 90% of the dinos in the game (ground dinos) an actual viable pick to use for something other than gathering. Flying dinos are still the meta and will always be. People are just angry their lower lvl birds actually have to land every once in a great while now and their higher lvl birds they spent so much time on cant move at the speed of a bullet and be completely unpunished. Birds are already getting rebuffed so the arguement will be null and void soon enough.

You are correct. My view has only been from the perspective of pvp servers and has been too narrow to take pve into consideration. I have not yet played on a pve. These nerfs have no benefit to pve servers and I definately see why people on pve servers would be/are furious with the change. I wonder if it would be possible/not too much of a work overload for ark devs to have seperate balancing for pvp and pve, but I guess when push comes to shove I would rather them focus on coming out with more content then spending resources on two seperate balancing teams. Sorry for the changes :/. I know the cry for flyer changes have come a lot from the pvp community for a long time now. The dev team is still playing with it. They dont want to lose players. I am sure they will come out with something that pleases te most people.

I'm sure I don't need to explain that these are main parts of the game, also taking away building because that involves farming, at least if it's something of larger scale. Leaves us with underwater stuff, which is basically off balance as well in some respects and breeding. But what should we keep breeding for, if it only leads back to the above. For our tribe a lot of purpose was lost. A lot of people feel similar but they still believe it might be changed back.

We can probably agree on this: Flyers needed a change for PvP. I only play PvE, though and there the nerf has no benefits. All it does is making everything more time consuming. We had high level Quetzals with a certain amount of points into movement speed. Believe me, it's no comparison. Now they crawl through the air - it's painful and annoying. More than that, or less, if you want: it's boring. It makes us want to not play those parts of the game where Quetzals are involved. For us that's mainly farming, roaming and taming.

I was around before the level caps rose and even before argys came out. People were traveling fine before that and raiding fine before that. The quetz still moves fine and not to mention can still carry insane weight 100% safely anywhere you need to go.

I dont mean to rant or sound completely negative. I like flyers but I feel in my time of being on ark they have completely become op to the point where there was zero and i mean zero reason to use any other dino. And honestly in my opinoin until they make aggroing high flying wild dinos there still is no reason to use any other dino.

You make a good arguement especially with the wyverns, but flyers are anything but crap at the moment. My tribe just got raided two days straight by big cross raiding tribes and got wiped. Guess what they were still using nothing but flyers. Several pteradons, argys, and quetzels. Stamina and lowered damage was no issue for them.

I agree nerfing is not the way to make other things more interesting but the insane gap between air and other dinos is now not a grand canyon. Air is still the meta and they are still the fastest map traveling pet in the game with nothing to fear but flying too close to turrets. I have a low lvl bird and i can still fly 3/4th of the whole map with it before landing. I can even fight for a very long time before running out of stamina. I do believe though that flyers need a attack for when they are on the ground.

High level wyvern need to land, not every once in a great while, but instead -very- often, especially if you like to actually make use of their capability to kill stuff. High level quetzals are slow as snails. So are ANY other flyers now, apart from maybe wyverns, but as I said, they can't go very far, if you do anything more than just flying. Flying is painful and boring. Travelling with land dinos can be very dangerous, they get stuck easily and it takes ages to get across maps.
Nerfing is just NOT the way to make other stuff interesting. It is a lazy, punishing way of doing so. What's the gain, though, if land dinos are more interesting now, when at the same time flyers are now crap - which they are, don't believe anything else.
