When I started video gaming, it meant spending hours by myself, dumping quarters into Space Invaders and Asteroids machines.
Then came Zork and Wizardry on Apple IIs and arcade-type ports on 8088-based PCs.
Then the consoles. Sega Master System, Sega Game Gear, Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn.
Then came social gaming on PCs at LAN parties. Doom and Duke Nukem. Wolfenstein. Battlefield 1942.
And consoles that didn't inhale forcefully. XBox (Halo!!!!) and XBox 360.
Then came the even more social MMOs. Guild Wars, Aion, Tabula Rasa, Rift, Star Wars, Age of Conan, Guild Wars 2.
And now I have a PS4 with a VR hat that's mostly set up for solo gaming.

At least it doesn't require rolls of quarters!
