All other reviewers covered the main points. The game is unfinished right now and in an unacceptable technical state. Therefore I requested a refund.

Early Access Review
*** Disclaimer: My review is based on the current official game version (08/2022) and on the experience both as Single Player with AI teammates and Multi Player with teams of friends. I cannot speak for the experience with random players. ***

Ready or Not is a very enjoyable SWAT simulation game. You play the role of a SWAT police officer in a team of 5 players in Single Player (4 AI bots) or 2 - 4 human players (Multi Player). The game is Coop only, so you don't play against other human opponents.

Before every mission, you select your loadout in the briefing room. There is a middle-sized selection of assault rifles, shotguns, SMGs, pistols and non-lethal weapons that you can choose from. The variety of the weapons feels limited, but the weapon types all feel very different and suit different maps and playstyles. In addition, you can modify the weapons to a certain extent and attach gadgets like lasers, flashlights and suppressors to your gun. Another decision has to be made how heavy your armor should be, because heavier armor will limit your mobility and the amount of extra equipment (ammo, grenades, C4, lockpicks, etc.) you can carry with you.

The mission selection itself gives a choice of around a dozen crime locations around the city of Los Santos. For some of the crime scenes you can select a subtype of mission, but not all subtypes are available to all crime scenes. The subtypes are:
- Barricaded suspects: Default mode, medium number of criminals and civilians.
- Raid: Large number of heavily armoured criminals. Relaxed rules of engagement (comparable to Terrorist Hunt in other games).
- Active Shooter: A gunman on the loose tries to kill innocent civilians in sight. You have to stop him quickly.
- Bomb Threat: You have 5 minutes to defuse two bombs.
- Hostage Situation: Self-explainatory.

There are two universal goals that you have to fulfill in every mission: rescue all civilians and neutralize all criminal threats. Please note that you are a virtual police officers, and you must not simply shoot every criminal, but rather try to coerce them into surrendering and arresting them. Granted, if the criminals are uncooperative or attack the police force, you are authorized to kill the assailants irregardless of the game mode.

As a result, the game is rather slow-paced. You have to take time to assess the situation before you attack with well coordinated attacks. Still, it is very satisfying to breach a room full of barricaded suspects with flashbang grenades and a breaching shotgun from multiple entries. Unfortunately, you have to know the maps beforehand. At the moment, there are no blueprints of the maps available in the game.

The maps themselves have been improved significantly with more details in the most recent patches and give a variety of types of criminals and locations.

Overall, due to the recent improvements, I can recommend the game again for people who want to play a SWAT police officer and understand that the game is not intended for run and gun gameplay.

Please note that you have to manage your expectations, because the game is in an Early Access states. That means:
- The game is very playable, but you have to expect smaller glitches and bugs. Please report them to the development team!
- The amount of content is somewhat limited, but grows with previous (and hopefully upcoming) content patches.
- The performance, especially with night vision equipment, is rather lackluster.

Previous review (Negative):

In its current state (07/2022) the game is a clear step back from earlier patch versions. Main reasons are:
- the enemies have aimbots and can / will hit you through walls even if there is no line of sight.
- the damage model is extremely inconsistent: some enemies (even without body armor) can tank multiple bullets from assault rifles.

This is sad because I clearly enjoy the game in its earlier state and I don't complain about the difficulty.
I hope that with the next patches I can revert my negative review to a positive review again.

If you enjoy classic shooter gameplay from the 90ies, this game is optimal for you. The graphics may be dated, but the fast paced gameplay makes up for it.

Epic Games is stripping out Linux and OS X support. Don't buy this game.

The controls of this game are purely optimized for consoles. For a keyboard + mouse player the controls are not feeling fluid enough. The pacing is slow which is frustrating. Annoying game design overall. I can't recommend the game and requested a refund.

This game is basically a joke.

I shoot a person from point blank range. The reaction: She floats above the floor frozen stiff. A tiger attacked me out of nowhere, I instantly died.

The controls leave a lot to wish for.
