...LRMs are for losers

A worthy successor to the last AOE (2). 3 was straight trash. Empires are very unique, plenty of tutorials to help trash players not be so trash. Great community. Great campaigns... that actually teach you history.

I mean I wish I could give neither a thumbs up or down at this point. There are aspects that I really enjoy and others that make it not enjoyable. Combat is unique and different from Civ, setting up on terrain bonuses can change the outcome of an otherwise losing battle. Art style and unique units and buildings are a plus.
Downside: Balancing is horrible, bugs are game breaking, AI either cheats, or is too dumb to survive, era progression is horrible (I'll still be tech wise with bows and I'm in the industrial era), resource balance for large maps is trash too.
I hope they fix things soon, because otherwise this would be a great game that I would rather play than CIV.
Once they fix things this will immediately go to a major thumbs up, because it has a lot of potential!

It's been over 6 months since I wrote this review. Things haven't been fixed, but new DLC?! Big thumbs down for me. Fix the game first before you release BS.

Yes there are bugs, but they aren't game breaking. Be patient for updates and this game will be well worth the time you put into it. Can't wait for DLC/ updates. Give the game a chance and you'll find that the world is super immersive and detailed. Best game of 2020
