No seriously, it's an absolute masterclass in game design.

EDIT after 70 hours:

Really enjoyed the game overall and so glad I stuck with it. Got totally hooked on side quests which I guess is a good sign! As you play more and more you begin to really appreciate the craftsmanship of the whole product. It really is a masterpiece, the music is so good and the story builds into the most epic tale.

Still playing, still enjoying!




Look, I'm not the biggest witcher 3 fan. Over the years I have started it 4 times and got to various parts of the game before giving up but the Steam Deck seems to have helped me overcome the 'wall' I kept hitting. Now on my 5th play and genuinely enjoying it. I have moved from the SD and have begun to really appreciate the levels of detail the dev's put into this game. Especially at 4K the game is truly stunning and is amazing to think the age of the game now. Aside from the graphical detail; the story is very engaging. I have stopped having my phone close by as I found previously I'd be checking notifications etc during cutscenes etc. Never a good thing to do but if you take the time to engage with the story, it does pay off.

Things to note I still find frustrating:

Some of the voice acting doesn't seem to fit the characters to me. Too much 'London' and it feels unnatural to the scenes. Which is in stark contrast to the quality and suitability of Geralts acting, that always seems to 'fit'.
Combat, simple and effective but in comparison with games like Elden Ring the combat feels outdated.

I think I am now around 40-50% through at time of writing and i'd give the game, at this moment a 4 out of 5 score.
Will update again as I progress as I feel the story will ramp up to another level.

Souls games at its best, but now so so vast, lots of choice where to go, what to do. Superb game.

Feels like I have been playing this game forever. I used to play co-op with my wife when it first released but we could never get far, its always been really tough!
Now I have a family and we have rediscovered the game, but now we are a full team of 4: myself, my wife, my son and my daughter all love it. Its genuinely still superb to play and having a 4 playing local LAN party with the entire family is just absolute gaming goals. Can't imagine a more enjoyable gaming experience anywhere else than what I'm enjoying right now, in my kitchen!

Really enjoying the game so far but its a tough game to beat!

It is pretty much essential to have a team of 4 to get anywhere through the levels, something made easier now they have matchmaking, although the official Discord is still recommended.

The game offers a fairly unique gameplay experience that I find myself really craving more and more; a PVE survival escape FPS. Each mission starts off quite calm and strategic but all of that soon crumbles away and you are all an absolute mess as the horde wipes the floor with you and your team.

Overall I would certainly recommend, its been a highly refreshing gaming experience and one I will continue to visit often.

CS2 - Better than ever and still as enjoyable today as it was 20 years ago.

Ok, let me get the first bits out of the way.... I was generously supplied Williams Vol 2 for free by Zen (thanks Zen) but this has in no way affected my view after playing, I will try to be honest as I can.

So I play pinball on a home made virtual pin cabinet.. a lot. I am also a huge lover of the real deal but where I live there are no real tables left.
So I can safely say that Zen have got the physics feel on these tables pretty much as good as it gets in the digital realm. I mainly play Visual Pinball and I really love the physics there but somehow I think Zen have done a better job. The ball feels like it has real weight to it without being bouncy like in the original tables on FX3. This is probably the best achievement that could be made in my eyes, I think they deserve a lot of credit for that.
I dont think visually they are quite as good as what I have seen on Visual Pinball. G5K AFM certainly looks superior but I really will have a place for both versions due to the previously mentioned physics.
Black Rose has become a firm fave of mine too... the FX3 being my favourite version without doubt.
not really played Party Zone much yet however.

The big negative points for me all stem from being a cabinet player.

Firstly,... I do think FX3 should be able to go full sim mode. So no pop ups, no post game menus - KEEP us in the table, let us see the work that has gone into recreating the light shows. I mean, im sure im not alone in thinking this. We want to love the tables you make, not the menus!

Secondly... the backglass situation. Come on guys, the backglass in there! it works, I can look at it in game and it looks beautiful! Let us have that sucker on a second screen! This is the craziest move of all in my eyes, I just don't understand why its not an option?

Overall, I can see this pack becoming a firm favourite in my house and I look forward to playing more.

The price is a steal... absolute no-brainer and worth every penny to support the ongoing devlopment by Zen.

I have been such a huge FF fan of the past. Unfortunately this one should be erased from memory.

For me, the FF games are at their best when the story is epic, when you feel like you are fighting for something worth fighting for. I did not get that feeling here. Yes, only 5 hours in, but it was a loooong 5 hours. The entire battle of the city cut scene is dissected into 2 second clips with some crappy music overlayed,.. they want you to watch the movie I guess.

Another bad point is; I had to sleep overnight before I could catch a boat. So I find a caravan hoping to just fade out and the next day begins but you have to watch the bromance of 4 guys making dinner first. totally pointless and kinda sums up this games need to waste your time.

Edit: More than a year later I loaded up my save.. and honestly I am enjoying the game now I have actually given it chance. It still doesn't feel epic like the FF games of old... the music sometimes is great, other times just plain awful. Combat is pretty good but at the moment I feel it runs on auto pilot a little. Anyway, It's been a fun 20 hours or so to play this while I await the delivery of VII remake. I guess if you can get it cheap then its a big ol game to take up time.

Quite short but excellent game nonetheless. Had me gripped throughout.
