Fantastic game, highly recommended.

Parts of the game are a lot of fun, and parts of this game are tedious, boring, and seem like they were designed to waste as much of your time as possible.

It's a beautiful game and could be a lot of fun, but there's so much busy work and the servers are full of jerks who get off on ruining other peoples' day. If you want to do anything substantial you have to spend so much time stocking up your ship, only to have it sunk shortly after because somebody saw your ship's outline from miles away and decided to hunt you down. It's awesome having your ship shot up while you're off trying to solve a vault riddle, or are exploring an island.

There are so many things the developers could do to streamline the experience, or make it more enjoyable for people who just want a chill pirate adventure with friends, but they have no desire to.

Only recommended if you have more time on your hands than you know what to do with, and have either sadistic or masochistic tendencies. Both types will find plenty of opportunity for their favorite type of fun.
