First impressions are startlingly bad. Some of the new systems genuinely seem fun and interesting, but they're buried under an awful UI (good lord the amount of misaligned text and inconsistent font sizing is actually remarkable for a big budget title like this), bugs, and so much missing information.

Good:
- The map generally looks great. The fog of war is a bit ugly and overbearing, but the world and units are really well done.
- It runs great on my system.
- As stated, I think there's some neat ideas here when it comes to military commanders and how your cities grow and expand

Bad:
- UI. It's beating a dead horse, but seriously, it's awful.
- Lack of information. This, along with the UI, lends to the idea of this game suffering because of console development. It's so hard to find relevant information. The tooltips vary from helpful to non-existent. Even game setup, the very first step, is lacking in information.
- Case in point of above: "Fishing boats" in the Civilopedia in-game say they cost 25 base production, but they're "produced" by placing them in a tile when my city grows, and they instantly work the tile they're on. My city grows from food. So why are they listed as costing 25 production? Is it a mistake, or am I not understanding? I can't tell, and there's enough missing information throughout that there's no way for me to know in game.
- Bugs. Even in the bit I played, I noticed yield totals not changing properly from events which led to incorrect timing in tech choices, for instance. Numerous times I wouldn't be able to deselect a unit by clicking off of them. Diplomatic notifications would state "X changed your relationship with an action." Okay? What action? Changed it how? Let me click on the notific-- oh nothing happens. I have to click on that leader, then click on the relationship tab and see what's new. Love it. This is probably working as intended and is just stupid, which tracks with the above points on UI and info.
Oh god and don't even bother with checking your city yields. Want to know why/how your city is producing what it does? Okay, let's hover over the food icon. Oh, no tooltip. Okay, let me just click this box in the city menu, then click the yields tab on the other side of the screen, then click down 3(!!) more headers to see what is contributing to the yield. I genuinely don't understand why it's so hellbent on wasting time and hiding information.

There's more, but that above is enough to not recommend. I want to like this game. I'm going to keep plodding at it, and I believe it'll be good one day. Probably. But wow is it a bad first impression.

An amazing experience! Visually and audibly stunning. Just know going into it, it's more of an amusement park ride/movie than an action game. Cutscenes aplenty here, but it's fine by me when they're presented so well. There's only one section that really felt like it could've been a little shorter, but 10 extraneous minutes in 6 hours doesn't ruin the experience. And when combat does kick in, it's great! Not drastically different from the first, but the big fight set pieces and the choreography throughout are amazing.

The story felt iffy to me through the majority of the game, certainly not as tight and focused as the first game, but that's bound to happen with an expanded cast. Senua feels like she loses a bit of the focus at times. However the ending wrapped things up nicely enough, and taken as a whole with the first's story, it's a satisfying arc for Senua across the two games. Growth and healing aren't linear, nor are they simple. It can be ugly, it's that displayed well throughout.

Long story short, if you enjoyed the first game, this is more of that in an even prettier package. It's a must play.

The first Talos Principle was one of my favourite puzzle games, and this continues that trend. I had high expectations coming into it, and so far they've been smashed. They managed to retain the essence of the original with it's philosophical yet at times silly tone, yet transport it (literally and figuratively) to a new environment vastly different from the first.

My biggest praise is not the graphics or music or dialogue or writing or puzzle quality, but the atmosphere. It's a game that begs to be explored, not because of wanting to check off the list for 100% completion, but because the world is so peculiar.

If you at all like puzzle games, you owe it to yourself to play this.

This is amazing. It feels like it took the good bits of both AoW3 and Planetfall, mixed them up, and then improved upon them. The biggest positives for me so far have to be the empire development and the game's pace.

The city management is actually quite interesting now for an AoW game but without feeling too onerous or micro heavy given it's still a war game. And to that point, the pace feels awesome. I've only done the first two story realms so far, but it doesn't feel like a slog at any stage of the match. The AI so far has fielded plenty of armies, and the bigger fights feel proper challenging with magic usage making a huge difference in outcome. The morale system that's now based on momentum in a battle adds another layer to large-scale battles. This is all without touching on the pantheon system or faction customization which, while divisive for some, I love.

There's a lot here and it feels great, and with what they've teased for DLC down the road too, this could easily be THE premier 4x fantasy game.

Finally back on Steam. Incredible game, one of the best if not the best city builder/production management games. Strikes the line between beauty and visual creativity in cities with gameplay and balancing your production. The amount of DLC almost makes the game unwieldy, but you can use as much or as little of it as you like in a file.

So much to dig into here. If you even remotely like city builders or production management games, get it.

It's 1am, I just got 100% completion, and I just want to go back and keep playing. It's that good. Easily GOTY so far for me.

Great game so far. Does it have some rough edges? Absolutely. That said there's been two hotfixes in two days addressing major bugs as well as some rejigging based on community feedback. Knowing Crate's track record with EA and post-release support, I have full confidence an already fun game will have the wrinkles smoothed and micromanagement issues addressed sooner than later.

This is a great action adventure game with a unique twist on character development in the form of... forms. Changing forms and moreso the level of customization on each form opens up lots of options to tackle the game. It took me about 14 hours to complete the story and almost all content (not NG+ nor all achievements), and it feels like a perfect amount of time.

My only gripe was that the dungeons, despite different aesthetics and challenges, feel kind of same-y after a while. The game really shines though when it presents challenges that make you think about how to make the best form to complete them, and I wish there was more of them!

Also, humour is bang on.

This is a good game, a great game even! I enjoyed myself more finishing a campaign here than I ever have in Civ VI. But up front - if you're coming from Civ, it's quite different. If you're coming from Endless Legend/Space, you'll feel at home here. Also if you're not kosher on the idea of culture swapping through the ages, it's the crux of the game. It's not really avoidable so it might not be for you.

There's a lot of good ideas in here. The way you change your culture through the ages to adapt to your environment and to your goals as the game progresses is great, and it lets you change your strategy if need be but still compete. The battle system is great in that where you engage another army as well as where you place units on the battlefield makes a significant difference. The district system doesn't feel as onerous as Civ VI. Civics and how they align with an overall ideology is a really cool system too.

All that said, it can be hard to keep track of your neighbours sometimes. Even though they're colour-coded, it can be easy to miss that your neighbour has taken on a new identity, and likewise for an enemy. The UI is very clean, but it can be hard to find information sometimes, and in some instances information you want isn't even available. The AI definitely feels like it struggles under the weight of everything here. There's bugs throughout (although none that killed a campaign for me.) The numbers and scaling of events throughout the game and in a number of systems are just out of whack and will need major balancing.

That said, it's all fixable with time and feedback. There's a super strong foundation of really good ideas here that can and only will get better with time. Every 4x game gets stronger over time, and this is poised to be my favourite once everything is really ironed out.

If you're a diehard 4x fan, try it out. If you're not, grab it on sale later once it's had some time in the sun and I doubt you'll be disappointed.
