"Wilds" is one of the best games (as of this review) of 2025 and a worthy addition to the "Monster Hunter" franchise.

Pros:
  • Easy to get right back into the "Monster Hunter" world (as my first game in the series was "Monster Hunter World")
  • Having support hunters is a great addition, especially since I'm experiencing with my network (as my mesh network keeps dropping me for some odd reason, I'll probably have to hard-wire into my router at some point) here at home. Since I work (healthcare) sporadically throughout any given week, picking up hunts and having the support hunters is a big plus if and when I have the time after an extremely exhausting shift to decompress before going to bed.

Cons:
  • The game is too easy when compared to "Monster Hunter Word". Though I did like that I could pick up and play with support hunters after work, the feelings of stress and anxiety I had from back when I first play "World" are no longer there. The uncertainty of whether or not actual player will respond to your SOS Flares is now gone with the use of support hunters. Yes, I am aware that there's an option to have "players" only, and yes, I am aware I could go into hunts solo. But even if and when I decide to solo hunts, the fact remains that the game is still "too easy".
  • Though rare for me, I have encountered a few optimization issues (graphical pop-in, odd textures, and funky polygon renders), but this usually occurred right after I updated my graphics card drivers.
  • Camera issues when right underneath monsters, attacking them. But this issue has always been part of playing the MH series of games.

All-in-all, I think the game is very fun and I always find myself going back to play (even though I have a massive backlog of games to play, books to read, and education I really need to focus on) for "just one more hunt."
