Oh this game did me raw; real raw; raw like health code violation raw. The optimization, randomization, and replayability are the spices that flavours this permadeath game. Normal mode in this game is like Ultraviolence (Doom 2). Jupiter Hell is unforgiving to mishaps and poor preparation as the game pile on hordes upon you as you progress (level and diifficulty-wise).
The variety of weapons, play style (class perks), and tidbits of pop-culture reference (namely Doom), is the painkiller to numb the loss of a "good run".

The art style and music is pretty good, and the campy voice over is the literal cherry on top of this review.

this game scratches all the itches that comes from wanting an action game that:
(1) allows you to beat the s+++ out of opponents in different flavours of ass kicking.
(2) gives you premium prime grade A quality of Souls-like rage quits from dying
(3) has genuine replayability and not some half-ass new game plus with added health to enemies.
(4) has chock full of action movie references (lots from Hong Kong 90s)
(5) you can vibe with the soundtrack and background music.
(6) isn't holding your hands like CoD/Battlefield/Fortnite .....

This is not the DOOM game I was looking for. Now all my friends know now......

try to escape from Earth: Death, Taxes, and Drama.

Great fun and easy to play game with serious depth for a game with simple mechanics.

The fun is not in the destination itself but the journey. Soak in the hand-drawn environment and enjoy getting lost.
Very few time I would recommend a game that isn't frustrating when backtracking around. Very cute and fun game.

Pretty trippy game. It's like a mash up of Christopher Nolan's Memento, David Lynch's Twin Peaks, and Metal Gear Solid (1).
Game's scary atmosphere is tied to the player's gameplay experience; the various limitation of the gameplay heightens the tension and attention to the game: limited inventory, fragmented pieces of lore, unreliable narrator, trippy eldritch themes, etc.... The scary part isn't the jump scares or the flickering lights, but rather the thought(s) of yourself being in that situation.

It's an enduring mind-f**k cosmic horror story and its well worth the time playing.
