A Hunt Showdown game-play video appeared on my youtube feed so I had a watch. I was immediately interested.
I watch a few more then a few more and was hooked just by what I was seeing. The concept was so different from anything I had seen or played before. I found the game on steam which was on early release at the time and purchased it.

It took me a little getting used to because I'm an 'all guns blazing' kind of first person shooter... Just put a gun in my hands and let me do my thing. I play first person shooters and horrors as an escape so I don't like to think a lot while I'm taking care of business.
It only took me a few games to feel my way but found my strategy naturally changing from a more aggressive approach to a more measured approach. I liked it and still do...

I have my good days when I kill a few hunters and I have my bad days when I can't hit anything (More of the latter).
Even on bad days I find myself coming back for more... And more... And more...

The game can be challenging but in a fun way. I don't have to think too much as the strategy comes naturally.

I learned very quickly:
1. Never assume that you're alone in a compound or when fighting a boss, or that you're the last person on the map (Unless you've counted all the other dead hunters).
2. Never assume the hunter you just killed is playing solo and run in for the loot. Not even when you're sat in a bush for 30 minutes waiting. His partner will no doubt be more patient than you.
3. If you charge around the map like an elephant you will be ambushed and die.
4. Learn to read the sounds.
5. Learn to anticipate the other hunters movements.
6. Know when not to shoot at other hunters and know when to run.

The game-play is unique and combines first person shooter with horror and survival.
It's a lot of fun and is addictive. It can be challenging, prepare to die a lot, but there is nothing more rewarding than wiping out another team of hunters, especially if you're playing solo.

Hunt Showdown is a new, refreshing game-play format. The best game I've purchased in years (I've been gaming since the mid 90's).Give it a chance, you won't regret it.
