Split-screen on Steam Deck currently DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. After some troubleshooting (reorder the controller orders in Steam) you'll eventually get the game to recognize the multiple connected controllers, but you cannot proceed past the Profile Setup screen because it expects the "{sd_btn_start}", which would appear to be the steam deck start button. There is currently no known workaround or solution, so don't expect to play local multiplayer on Steam Deck despite the "Verified" status.
