A classic horror game that has aged pretty well, and whether you are a new player, and old player, or someone who's played other RE games but not this one, you can buy with confidence. I remember playing the 1996 title on PC, and I instantly loved the game. When I heard that there was a new and updated version coming out on Nintendo Gamecube in 2002, I purposely bought the console so I can play the game. I've been contemplating it on Steam ever since its release because I remembered it being very good back then, but I didn't remember much of the story and the content. However, I was waiting for it to be on special because I also didn't know what to expect from it in 2020/2021 having played the latest graphically immersive RE7, RE2 and RE3. I thought I wouldn't enjoy as much and that it would be perhaps a little boring even, but let me tell you that I WAS WRONG ! This game is absolutely worth it, on special or not. It turns out I had forgotten a lot more of it than I anticipated, and it felt like a whole new game. It felt fresh, the graphics and visual effects are absolutely amazing for a game of that time, and it really doesn't seem so far behind even with modern standards. The way it's presented is quite unique as the camera angles are fixed for each area of the game, so you'll either love it or hate it, but hopefully love it, because that is actually what allowed this game to look so gorgeous for its time and make it even more immersive. It took me about 20 hours to complete it with Chris on a first run, which is a lot of game time for the money. I know, I know, you may complete it considerably faster depending on your level OCD and whether you have played the game before or not, but either way you can replay the game with the 2nd character as well for a different experience. I also recommend playing the game on the highest difficulty right away, which in the beginning translates to "medium", because I played it on easy thinking it was medium and I found it to be a little too easy, and I ended up with way more ammunition and healing elements than I could use, or at least don't be too conservative with your items, especially with pistol ammo and healing kits. Even though it feels like you may be short on them in the beginning, you'll start stacking them faster than you think. Finally, I recommend using a controller if possible as it helps smoothen the slightly clunky movements of your character.
