V Rising (Early Access) is off to a good start as a vampire survival game. However, it is still a bit unpolished and in need of more content. Which is an issue to be expected from an early access release. While I played primarily on PvE servers, about 100 hours, I did spend about 10 hours on a PvP server as of this review. My review will based largely on the PvE playing experience.

I’ll start with the good.

V Rising (EA) did very well in creating a survival game for vampires. Survival is unique as not only do you need to feed, battle NPCs and potentially players, but must also avoid sunlight and stick to the shadows. This feature drastically changes player behavior during day and night cycles. Some may find this to be an annoyance or a great deal of fun. I personally found it to be fun as it added to the challenge.

V Rising (EA) also has an engaging combat system that has found players coming up with their own styles and combinations in both PvE and PvP servers. Players are currently given a choice of seven different weapons (Sword, Spear, Axe, Mace, Reaper, Slashers and Crossbow) with up to 3 unique abilities for each weapon. There are also various spells you can acquire through V Bloods in which you can slot two plus one ultimate spell. I found while there are some spells and weapons that are preferred, there was no universal combination in combat in either PvE or PvP.

Next is some of what needs to be worked on.

V bloods or the “boss fights” of the game are quite fun. However, because of the scaling of their health and number of spawned mobs based on the number of players attacking, most players preferred to solo or “tag team” bosses rather than fight as a group. This I believe to be a drawback of the current boss fights in the game as they should encourage group play rather than discourage.

Another large part of V Rising is base (castle) building. Players have a maximum of two castle hearts they can put down and upgrade to build and decorate a sprawling castle. This can be done individually or as part of a clan. The two primary issues seem to be lack of land on crowded servers and the ability for other players to block you in with their castles if you don’t build out to an area like a road or seal off an area yourself. When you start the world appears deceptively big, but as you progress it quickly gets smaller. Castles must be quite large to fit all the refining stations, crafting stations, prisons, coffins, plants, storage, and soul shards in. In short there needs to be more land and potentially more space saving when it comes to the items that go in a castle.

A quick mention on PvP servers. While I found PvP combat enjoyable with similarly geared opponents. It was very difficult to start out on a server that had an established player base. Resource sites, bosses and narrow passes between areas were often camped. It was too easy for a single group to dominate a server utterly. A problem I would associate to the world’s overall lack in size. The weaker players need to be harder to find and need more opportunities to exploit resources. A player's PvP experience can greatly vary between servers. So, make sure you like the people you are battling with and against.

Finally, there needs to be more content. A player can reach end game in roughly 100 hours or less; especially on PvE servers. Currently, the development team is working on polishing with bug fixes but hinted at more content coming this Fall.

In conclusion, V Rising has potential. It scratches an itch for a lot of players who have been waiting for a decent vampire game. It is, in my opinion, worth its price point of $19.00. I am also happy with how engaged the development team is with their community. If you buy the game, you should join the V Rising Discord.

I've played this game for a while. Most reviews have covered this game pretty well so I'll just add my bit.

Is this game pay to win?
Official answer no. Unofficial answer absolutely. Much of the game depends upon upgrading your equipment quickly. You do this by either buying an Archeage Archepass for $10 to $20 about every month so you get can get items that can otherwise be difficult to get or cost a lot of in-game gold. The Archepasses only get you so far though.

You are also limited by labor. Labor is a primary method of making gold in-game. Labor regenerates naturally and slowly over time or you can pay for labor recharges.
To get around labor limitations many players have either bought 2 extra accounts (basically buying additional copies of the game) or buy the accounts of other players. Some players have several accounts at this point. These are pay to win tactics; especially if you have to buy the game more than once.

The last bit to pay to win is the gold-selling that goes on. While against server policy it's not really enforced.

Is the game balanced?
No. I won't touch much on classes because that's a whole review unto itself. In this case; I'll discuss factions and the exile system. The game if you've researched it has basically 3 factions; 4 if you include the player faction. Due to the exile system, a system that lets you move to another faction if there is space, the factions on most servers are now one-sided. The servers now, more or less, have one dominant faction. This is a problem because dominant factions are able to monopolize valuable resources; in this case castles and the black dragon. On my server Denistrious; the west completely dominates the server and has for such a long time there is no possible way to catch up unless most of the west leaves the server. So competitive faction gameplay is broken in Archeage Unchained. There are other factors I might include such as pay to win twitch players, poorly run guilds, player apathy, etc.

Is the game managed well?
You need only read the comments for this one. I myself have been dissatisfied with my experience with the games management; both in Archeage and Archeage Unchained.

My overall opinion at this point is that the companies running the Archeage and Archeage Unchained franchises are simply after profit and looking to the new game Archeage 2. The sentiment both myself and others have is that Archeage Unchained has largely been abandoned and is more or less on auto-pilot at this point. Which leads me to my final point.

If you are new, should you invest time and money into this game at this point?
No. As stated, there is no real competition at this point and the game feels like it is on auto-pilot with an apathetic pr team. Most players have already maxed out their equipment. So unless you plan on buying an existing account(s) or sinking a large amount time and cash to catch up. It's not worth it.

This is another hard review for me to write because the Nosgoth has so much potential. Vampire games are one of my favorite types of games, but sadly there are so few of them and even fewer good ones.

What's good about Nosgoth.
Nosgoth provides a decent 3rd person pvp experience in different arenas. It provides enough content (classes, skills, skins etc.) to help keep the redundancy of an arena style game to a minimum. The classes are fun to play and provide an overall great human vs vampire experience. Even though you can invest in your character, and pay to get new characters early, this game doesn’t feel like a pay to win which is a major plus for many.

What's bad about Nosgoth.
This is the type of game I would like to play when I’m bored and nothing else seems interesting. So I should be able to get into a game and out relatively quickly. However, the player-base for this game is so low you can spend a long time waiting for other players (I spent 30 minutes before giving up tonight). This sadly is a common occurrence and its current greatest problem. The other is the game tries to get you to invest in your character using runes. This isn't a game I feel like investing anything in because I don't feel like I really gain anything from it. Other than skins and abilities I don't really feel like my class or build for a class will ever be unique paid or unpaid. This is in part a good thing as it keeps the playing field level.

Now to expand on level playing field a bit, vampires do “seem” to win more than the humans, but I believe this is balanced out because everyone get to play both sides in a 4v4 match. Unless of course you come in mid-game in which case… good luck. Clan vs PUG groups can also make it annoying because a well-organized group vs and unorganized one is almost always one-sided.

The small player-base and waiting a ridiculously long time in the lobby for players to join is the games worst attribute for me. 3rd person camera angles can get a little annoying, but aren’t bad enough to really hate the game. Each class is a little different and fun to play, my personal favorites are the sentinel (vampire) and scout (human). I personally think this game would have done better as an instanced mmorpg, but it is still is a good game. The problem and reason I’m rating it down though are the absurd wait times. I would like to play the game, not waste my life waiting to play. Should the absurd wait times for players to join ever get better I may change my vote.

I actually played this game through glyph, and started playing on day 1 of the NA alpha. I invested a little over $200 and played at least 150 hours’ worth (pretty sure way more). I'm writing this review after trying the game one "last" time after several month "frustration" hiatus. This review will mostly be a supplement and to reaffirm the current and more informative negative reviews.

The Good (kinda)

The game is a great sandbox game with the exception of instanced dungeons. It has pvp, pve, and the usual redundant quests. Sadly, few mmos put any true work in their quests and Archeage is not the exception. The sea and land pvp/pve are one the major positive aspects of the game. The character customization is good, but I'll rate overall customization as moderate because you can get stuck with a lot of generic armor unless you really shovel out the $$ and time. House and land customization is one of the highlights of the game (if you can find/buy land from a player).

The Bad

Land is insanely limited and open to player trolling (i.e. bots grabbing land, uneven spacing of plots etc.). Again, the quests are redundant and the feel is a grind. You can level via crafting, but it gets expensive fast, especially if you don't have any land. Players who have arrived before you "will" attack you in the pvp areas so if you're a solo player this isn't the game for you. The game has been plagued with crashing and constant disconnects since day one for many if not most players. Lastly, while the game is free don't expect to get very far without putting some real money into it.

The Ugly

Great game, horrible management… As I'm sure will be a reoccurring theme in prior and future reviews the games management is by far its most negative attribute. Player neglect, day one problems never being solved, devs punishing players for what they consider "negative" feedback, and what feels like and probably is a "we'll be with you in just a moment" attitude *queue the eternal we don't care about you hold music.*

The game has (had?) great potential, but overall was a flop of an investment for me and many others. Maybe not for you, but be cautious when deciding to invest in this game. Try it out for free, but don't put a lot of money in it till you're absolutely sure. However, my recommendation for this game will be a "No."

A game of strategy and headshots. Though you may have to pay out a little ca$h to be competitive later in game it's worth it. Well-timed activations of modules can break stalemates and teamwork is an absolute must. If you can find a good group of friends or take your chances with a pug group. If you're a hardcore first-person shooter, this game is worth a look at. 7/10
