The card combat system works, though I do still prefer the more traditional XCOM model. What truly drives this game is the interaction between you and all the heroes between battles. Definitely worth picking up.

In some way this is a 3D take on FTL. You have the progression through sectors, with a death ending your run.

There are ships and upgrades you can unlock between missions, so even in loss your previous run isn't a waste.

The combat is challenging, especially at first, and very fun. The various weapons and ships allow you to employ different tactics in combat.

This is definitely worth a buy if you enjoy space combat and rogue-lite games.

This game is an absolute gem! I was initially scared away by the card-system combat, but the system is surprisingly deep. Turn-based strategy meets a rogue-like. If you like strategy games at all, give this one a try.

Early Access Review
Really fun turn-based combat. Lots of background and stat diversity for your battle brothers. Enemies are deliberately powerful enough that you will suffer casualties (probably a LOT of them early on in a campaign).

Early access will probably get you 15+ hours of fun game play while we wait for all the exciting features that are planned.

Fun if you are a fan of Warhammer: 40,000 and turn-based tactical games. Certainly gets repetitive after awhile.

I just did not find the gameplay very satisfying compared to turn based tactical games such as Xcom:Enemy Unknown.

Amazing single player campaign. I've sunk over 100 hours into the game and still feel the itch to play it.

Most intricate video game melee combat system you can find. Do yourself a favour and download the cRPG multiplayer mod if you are going to play this game.

Takes the complexity of the Baldur's Gate series and brings it into the modern age. The work done to the Infinity Engine is absolutely amazing and puts to shame the "enhanced editions" that Beamdog has released for Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate.

Worth every penny even at full price for any fan of the genre.
