It's not a bad game, but it tried to expand on the tactics genre without fixing its pacing.

Simply put, the combat is snail pace, even accelerated. For instance there is a big event at the end of your first conquest where each turn there is a round of combat for: your main assault team, your secondary assault team, artillery and the enemy. So you've got this long drawn out combat that takes forever.
On top of that, some maps are quite big and fire can block you, waiting for it to extinguish itself unless you thought of equipping water jugs.

Running around your camp to craft, upgrade and recruit is tedious.

There are also some minor bugs and the camera can get annoying.

The legion combat minigame is not exciting and you don't have much to gain there.

The story and characters are alright, they got strong females right without mary-sueing them.

The art and overall environment is decent.

The class and subclasses variety is alright.

Overall it mostly feels like a game trying to make you spend a lot more time than should be necessary.

The Inidiana Jones setting was promising, but the controls and real-time ambushes were too horrible for me.

This is probably a decent game if you are really into WH40K.

As a tactics and rpg fan however, I find it lacking.
- The interface is counter-intuitive and crowded.
- The feat list is massive and difficult to get into. When you have 6 toons leveling up at once and you spend 5mn on each trying to figure out what to pick, it's hardly exciting. I gave up and looked up builds to follow.
- The combat is slow with very little movement points.
- The arbitrary decision to remove movement after shooting/hitting makes the game slower and becomes a boring routine. To be fair, some customizations allow more flexibility, but it's not the default behaviour.

From a gameplay perspective, it's pretty bland for a tactics game. Its gameplay suffers the comparison with more dynamic games like Showgunners. I did like however the introduction of ultimates for each class.

The story and characters are probably better judged by a true WH40K fan. I did not find them engaging and kept asking myself why should I care about any of these psychos?

This game is a work of art. It's beautiful, gripping, and original. It does a fantastic job showing the horrors of war from a perspective seldom seen in video games.
The gameplay loop is decent, but its best features are the aesthetics, music and storytelling.
The developers clearly care for their game too: no bug, no crash and they offered free content updates.

I loved the first game and wanted to enjoy this one as well.
So every once in a while I come back to it and try to give it a chance, but it's slow and frustrating.
It also seems that bad luck easily ruins any run.
I don't see the appeal in grinding it to try and progress.

I wish there was a neither yes or no option for reviews.

It's a decent tactics game with OK story and a lot of character variety.

What bugs me the most is that it used to be really fun with OP builds that mixed massive mobility and damage, and they nerfed them to oblivion.
Before the nerfs it was dynamic, you could move around quickly and pull off some awesome combos to make a toon shine.
I understand it was too powerful but the devs went too far.
Now the game feels grindy and slow. It's not bad, I just don't recommend buying it unless you have a lot of time on your hands.

Other minor points that bug me:
- shaders for particle effects everywhere, on everything. Some are fine like the lighting, but all of the leaves, ground-level fog and various swirls around each toon's feet is distracting
- even with the new season big patch, archers still feel useless past early game. To be fair I haven't tried to build all of them so maybe there's a specific archer that would be worth it
- morality feels unbalanced. Picking a christian tyrant on hard+ is shooting yourself in the foot. And old faith, righteous crew has access to much better support and magic users

As many (all?) players said, this is a fps nightmare and terrible optimization.
The gameplay is alright, though some platforming sequences are more superhero than jedi.

But the wonder in this game is the story, supported by its characters and amazing acting. It's rich, complex, beautiful and emotional. The music also serves it well. This is the Star Wars we want, much more than all the recent ♥♥♥♥♥♥ movies and TV shows Disney threw at us.

It's alright for fans of the tactics genre, and it could have been great, but it is so slow.

Maps are broken down in different areas with fights, but you stay in turn-based mode to get from one to the next. So you crawl painfully, character by character.
Even when fighting, it takes forever to move.
You need to wait until a character is done moving to start moving the next.
You get an unskippable pause on each character at the start of each round displaying their bonus.
When mobs enter the area, they come one by one, and at the end a lot of them come.
As a comparison, Showgunners made combat feel a lot more dynamic, and xcom2 had a lot of qol features missing here like queuing characters movements.

It's a shame, apart from the snail pace there are great features in the game: trick shots are fun, story is good, environment is beautiful, voices are alright, level design is interesting.
It's a missed opportunity but it can easily be fixed if they make another sequel.

A lot of content for a small price, I enjoyed it.
Asian RPGs often have a clunky interface with lots of menus and submenus, this one did well with less clicking to get stuff done.
Story is good (bit hard to follow with the names being similar at times), graphics are cute, gameplay is alright, and the progression system is original.

One thing I did not like is missing learning some skills because the NPCs became unavailable.
Another one is most of the game being trivial after understanding the need to farm cultivation methods, then getting smacked by the last boss until I went back and farmed a bit. Some tougher fights before the last boss would have prepared me a bit more.

Cool game, unexpected and has some original twists to usual squad tactics games.
The different aliens are well introduced and lead to some interesting cinematic moments.
Some minor criticism:
- it is difficult to get into and understand all the mechanisms. I only found out about the silencer for scouts halfway through for instance.
- the daily events are often punitive, and bad luck at the start sets you up for failure.
- on higher difficulties, you basically play the game in slow mode.

Defo recommended for any tactics fan looking for something different
