I played the game on PS2 years ago, and fell in love. It's a bit like Zelda, combined with japanese mythology and amazingly innovating graphics.

The game was supposed to be your average 3D-graphics game, but the developers changed their minds and decided to go with the more simplistic, drawn style; something that adds to the overwhelming feeling and atmospehere the game creates. While it's not entirely the same on PC (using an xbox controller is recommended AF), it's nostalgic enough for me to pick up again. With the HD update everything's even more smooth, though the artsy style remains. Graphics and music combine well, creating a balance between the different themes of the story.

The story is good, it's humorous, some characters are a liiiittle bit objectifed and sexualized but overall great and diverse. The abilities, being able to bend elements to your will, is thoroughly implemented and used in many different ways, but also weapons are thought out and varying, which makes the game fun. Different enemies have different weaknessess making you learn to use all your powers.

Controll can and will be hard at first, learning to hit enemies, getting Demon Fangs and mastering drawing lines (tip: holding Y makes the brush bigger = lines thicker, and holding X draws faster = easier to draw straight lines), but even though I haven't played in years I found it easy to (re)master.

Conclusion: the delightful mix of mythology, arts, magic and a good dogo makes it 10/10.

+ Beautiful unique graphics
+ Fitting music ^
+ Good story
+ Good balance between dark and light atmospheres
+ Fun and humorous
+ Good dogo saving the world

- I guess the winter area is a little bit tedious
