This is probably the most beautiful game i've ever played. After playing through this in 30 hours and getting 100% completion (not on steam) i can safely say that this is my GOTY of 2017, most likely my favorite game ever. From the fantastically hand drawn art style, to the clean and crisp controls and combat this game is a satisfying experience from start to finish.

    Pros:
  • Great art style
  • Clean controls
  • Amazing soundtrack
  • Interesting lore and story

    Cons:
  • Somewhat frustrating platformer moments (may just be me though)
  • Checkpoints and fast travel locations can be a bit spread out

    Neutral:
  • If you encounter one of the 2.0 versions of a boss early you may be stuck at it for awhile, if you're too stubborn to wait later (like i was)
  • A fair bit of backtracking, which i feel is expected in this type of game

    Conclusion:
Hollow Knight is a metroidvania that came from a successful Kickstarter and is still being supported by its developers. With an excellent story that feels inspired by the storytelling style of Dark Souls, with multiple endings and encounters that encourages multiple playthroughs, the amount of content is plentiful. For 15 dollars this game is a must have for people who enjoy platformers, metroidvanias, or even Dark Souls.

I played a little bit of the original, and was insanely hyped for the new one. Preordered it, played the hell out of the beta. Had a ton of fun. When it was finally released, except for a few bugs here and there, the game was near perfect. I bought most of the DLC (As i was a huge fan) but then i started to see a trend, there were more expensive DLC's.
THERE IS CURRENTLY 110 (USD) WORTH OF DLC.

Following the games news I was extremely surprised to hear that they added "Unboxing" a la CS:GO or TF2. Now unboxing in CS:GO and TF2 has a rightful place, since it doesn't give you any edge whatsoever. But in Payday 2, they give you better stats?!?!? This added a microtransaction system where you could get a safe, or a case like in CS:GO, then pay real world money to get a drill to unbox, a key. This shocked many people, including I, because there was a post from *Alimir*? Saying that microtransactions will never be a part of a game. Later they, in a poorly failed attempt, tried to say "Hey, this isn't a microtransaction, you can get them from RNG card drops!!11!". I'm all for companies making more money, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ don't do it in such a way where you lie to the very consumers and *Alimir* said that they are here to stay.

I love this base game, I love the attention the devs have given to past things, like the Hoxton Breakout, and others. But this is just too far, the DLC's were pushing it, and now microtransactions? I'd say don't buy anything from these guys. If they lie to consumers going back on their word, why should we trust them to not do other questionable things.

NOTE: I cannot speak for balancing changes, nerfs, or buffs as i do not play the game currently.

TL:DR Overkill made a bunch of DLC adding up to 110 USD, then added microtransactions (unboxing which gives you stats while going back on a previous statement), and then they tried to add RNG drops to unbox said safes, to try to please people.

I've had this game since it was in alpha, and even though many updates have been released, i feel as if it has never left alpha. Unfinished and plagued with bugs, it isn't worth 60 USD. Pick it up on sale if you have a lot of money, but i can't recommend it at its full asking price.
