I'm not even half way through the main story and without a shadow of a doubt I can say this is the grandest and best RPG I have played in the last 30 years.
It checks every box, the story is fantastic, the combat is rewarding, the side quests are hilarious and interesting, the characters memorable, the music unbelievable, and so much more.
The setting is wonderful, the forests are next level, even improving on the first game which I didn't think possible.
I have played many games, but this feels like the peak of what a true RPG should strive to be.
And of course, I'm still quite hungry for more!

I have never played anything similar to this, as in, yes I have, but in different games.
Hand of Fate combines various mechanics from different genres in one truly great game.

On the one hand (hehe), you get to build your deck with event cards and equipment cards. At first these will be pretty plain and simple, and not much different from each other, but as you progress on the story you will unlock more cards, which in turn can unlock more cards, and some events have mini storylines! I found that so cool, like a way to have a new objective every time you play a new run.

Then there's the combat when you get an encounter. To be honest, I was playing in standard and found it a bit easy, so changed it to warlord and I think it's balanced pretty well. Not easy enough to get bored but not hard enough to feel powerless. It's just about right to reward good skill and being smart on when to attack and when to defend, you can't just oonga boonga your way through, you gotta avoid attacks or else you're not making it to the end.

Now, there's an element of luck on some events that I wouldn't consider fair, but they are few and happen randomly enough not to feel too frustrating, but they can definitely ruin some runs. Especially some of the "boss card events", which were quite strong.

Anyhow, game's great, I liked all the combat mechanics, albeit the movement is a bit clunky, but you get used to it. Final boss was perfect for me, first try I knew there was no way I was beating him with my current setup, so tried again and got better equipment, especially one item to heal myself 3 times, and I still ended up with just 10 HP left lol. Those lizards are freaking tanks, maybe a bit too much.

What a great fun game. Now this is a perfect example of doing amazing things and keeping it simple.

A Legionary's Life is such a good "short" story, kind of roguelike, RPG-ish game. You start as a simple soldier in a maniple, and you have to work your way up the rankings, or at the very least try to survive the wars that you get pulled into.

The gameplay loop is quite simple yet effective, you have two phases that I like to call "break mode" and "story mode".
While on break, you can choose to work on your weapon training, hit the gym, run some laps, look for some nice gear or even offer to do extra guard duty. Any choice takes one turn, and between turns random situations may happen and there is enough variety that it never feels the same.
While on story mode, you progress the main story line and don't have time to rest or train, but you do have to make decisions that will affect your reputation or even cost you your life!

Speaking of which, death is not the end, at least technically. The idea is that everytime you finish a playthrough, you get points according to your deeds and rank, which then you can spend on the next soldier to make him stronger or have better gear. This allows you to progress the story further, and if you are lucky, finish it (yes, it does end eventually)

But at no point did I feel like it was too fast or too dragged out, the timing is perfect and the difficulty is pretty good as well. So far I've done 15 runs and each one of them has had their unique experience (some definitely more frustrating than others).

All in all, it's really worth a try if you don't mind not having animations and most of the game being in a written form.

Early Access Review
An awesome city builder, I've tried rimworld, dwarf fortress and other of the like but always ended up dropping them. Not with Songs of Syx, it always leaves me wanting to do more, expanding the city, building more workshops, harvesting more fruits and taxing every single piece of coal in my region. Still a lot to be added and lots of potential, but in the current state it's a lot of fun. Can't wait to see how it evolves!

10/10 must play.
I started speedrunning this just to keep playing it because it's so good.
(I got it first on Epic when it was free, 60+hs in that file)

This game is one of a kind, it's one of the best RPG I've played ever. If you like D&D, stories, dialogues and having a lot of options and outcomes for your decisions, then you will love this.

Imagine playing Diablo 3 over Path of Exile in 2019.

Update: Imagine playing Diablo 4 over Path of Exile 2 in whatever year it launches.

Best game I've played in a looooong time. I see why people call this the "2D Dark Souls", it does have some similarities. Absolutely stunning and unique, amazing soundtrack, great gameplay, beautiful world, interesting characters. Overall, this game scores very high at pretty much everything you evaluate in a game. If you have the chance, play it.

I don't really want to compare it to Hearthstone but this is the easiest way to say how good of a game Shadowverse is.

So many things going the right way, mechanics, achievements, card art and animations, things that you would think by this time Hearthstone would already have, but it's not the case. I love all of them and I just started playing.

Can't say much more with the time I played but I'm really looking forward to continue playing!

If you like card games, you should give Shadowverse a try!
