Absolute blast, for the right person.

Let me preface this with warning. DCS is not for everyone, hell its basically reserved for people on the spectrum. It's a flight sim. The trailers are not what you will be getting with this game. Gameplay consists of 90% learning, 5% working out why your manual is out of date, 5% flying.

The barrier of entry is one module (~100 aussie dolans) and ideally a throttle and stick (~200-1000 smackaroos. The game is possible to play with a controller and keyboard, but a large part of the experience is cheapened by doing so. Also you'll need a beefy computer to run the game.

Now gameplay. It's a flight sim, if you don't know how to fly its not too bad, pilots aren't that special. Stick back n forth, side to side, you'll be flying in no time. Complexity comes down to operating the systems on board. Its not Microsoft Flight Sim, you are strictly here to blow people up. You'll need to learn operating a radar, locking on to fellas, selecting weapons, and firing them. Ground weapons can be a little easier, if you give up using guided munitions and just drop dumb bombs on people. But satisfaction from finally working out a new weapon, and watching it smack directly into some infantryman's face with laser guided precision is unmatched.

I've heard this game called Digital Cockpit Simulator, which is very accurate. The game is at its best when you are flying a jet. All the systems a great, cockpits look amazing, jets control wonderfully. But DCS's biggest weakness is outside the cockpit. Enemy AI is stupid, very stupid. You aren't fighting another jet, tactics don't work against them, you can't sneak past them under terrain. They don't handle their jets the same way you do, basically they cheat. That's not to say I'm bad at the game and can't beat the bots (I can't tho.) Its more to say that for a combat simulator, PvE isn't simulating anything. Ground targets are similar. Tanks have perfect AAA accuracy. they'll fire their main gun and hit you as you strafe by. Unguided AAA has stupid accuracy. SAM's are better, but still a little brain dead.

Multiplayer is far better. Although my pc is ♥♥♥♥ and playing on a server with more than 10 people is a guaranteed blue screen. This game shines best when playing with someone. Two seater aircraft are functional, and let you're least favourite mate sit right behind you complaining the entire sortie. The Tomcat has to be the best for that, not just because the pilot doesn't have to deal with the radar ever again. But because the RIO has the ability to eject the pilot at any moment. Screaming at each other to fire a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ missile already while pulling some 11g defensive manoeuvres is gold every time. Bonus points for when the RIO fires one off at a friendly, and then the sever announces to everyone that the Pilot just teamkilled, and now has to apologise for their gremlin backseater.

I'm going to cut the review here because I'm rambling, but DCS is really something great. If centerlink comes through and you've got a crisp $1000 to blow somewhere, and a mate to manipulate into following along. DCS is it.

enabling this dlc kills performance for both the base game and the editor, you're better off with mods for this sort of content, rather then this buggy mess

The Bank is easily the best map in the entire game, of course i would of loved if it came with the base game, although it is quite a bit pricey, wait for a sale
