I feel strangely passionate about this game after just a couple hours, so here's a rantview.

This is one of the most fun games I've ever played. The gunplay, the bosses, the rhythm all ties together very wonderfully, and the shopping and upgrades you can get (which reset rogue-like when you die) give it very high replay value.

UNFORTUNATELY MY EYES START BLEEDING AFTER HALF AN HOUR. My goodness this would be an easy 8 or 9 out of 10 if it wasn't for the insane (in a BAD WAY) art style -- the actual models and textures look FANTASTIC (love the birds btw), but everything is washed out in shades of red, orange, and yellow. Do you know what happens when you stare at a red screen for GAMER lengths of time? Your eyes get tired as hell dude, and the nigh-monochromatic color scheme isn't all that great to look at, either! I actually forced myself to keep replaying so I could make it to the final stage one time, out of suspicion that the stages were arranged rainbow-style, but no, it's all red, orange, yellow, then a cornea-melting REDYELLOW followed by a Sin City style black and red. Not fun to look at.

Like I said, the gameplay itself is absolutely amazeballs, 9/10 or possibly even 10/10 easily, but the weird design choice to make everything look like the worst eyesore parts of DOOM 2016 and Eternal bring my personal score down to a 5/10. That's right, I loved playing this game but hated seeing it. I will GLADLY revise my review if there is a change in art design or an option made available (that doesn't just turn everything black and white) so my eyes don't bleed after just one run.

In summary, the steam trailer really does tell you everything you need to know about whether you'd like this game. Gameplay, great. Music, great. Graphics, great. Art Design, wtfnoplzfix.
