It's a nice day at the beach. And then you have to fix a lighthouse and people in masks start shooting you.

Fight through for beach rights. Short, fun.

Not your typical MMO. More like a living single-player cRPG world.

* Lots of lore and voice work to discover.
* One character can be Tank/Heal/DPS based on skills you select
* Good community; seems like a nice place to hang out

Fun roguelike.

The crafting system is incredibly obtuse (at first?), and the fact that there is a time-limit until a 'big bad' comes and pushes you towards either finishing the level or dying means there isn't much time for figuring out what to combine with what (outside of looking beyond the game :\)

It's about choice. Maybe?

So pick it up... or don't. It's your choice. (Right?)

Overall: Wonderful game.

Terrific humor and gameplay.

The Steam version adds trading between Steam accounts and not just those in your selected game. Takes advantage of Steam Inventory! Hurray!

Early Access Review
(This is based on the 'Titan' game mode)

The core gameplay is very bland. In 'Titan' there are 2 phases...

First phase, you kill creeps (passive NPC mobs) to gather the items they drop to power your titan. In the 2nd phase, the titan comes online (on both sides) and you try to destroy your enemy's titan first before they can gets yours. Eventually, you can hopefully escort your titan to the other team's base and eventually win the game. Go back to first phase, repeat until win condition.

There are some other elements like upgrading your character and all, but that's the main idea and there didn't seem to be a great difference between upgrading your character and not doing so.

Frankly, the back and forth was so dull, I couldn't even finish a full game even though my team was winning.

Starbound is like Terarria++. More places to explore (planets and such) which have different biomes and pre-generated structures both above and underground. Also, there are plans for boarding spaceships, spaceship combat (both far off), different biome/planet hazards (it's mostly just temperature right now (say, snow planets and moons)), etc.

See http://playstarbound.com/the-future-of-starbound/. It's much fun. And very moddable.
