You can pet the cat. If you hold down the button you can keep petting the cat. Easy game of the year.

Part immersive sim, part FPS, all cop. An extremely fun and satisfying romp through the world of Robocop. Combat strikes a good balance between making you feel slow and powerful while not feeling overly clunky or frustrating. Upgrade system lets you tweak Robocop's main handgun to suit each encounter and while the skill system isn't super in-depth, I felt it had just the right amount of impact on the gameplay to not feel too oppressive. Graphics aren't the most top of the line, but the environmental destructibility is top notch and not only serves to make the combat more intense and fun, but also gives you tactical options like throwing explosive canisters and TVs at enemies, or even just flat out grabbing and throwing them out of windows. Story is a bit clumsy and oddly paced at times, but it's overall fun, and hearing Peter Weller as Robocop is the cherry on top. The game also features some investigative sections to split up the combat encounters, and while some of these can drag on a bit long at times, they are on the whole really fun and do a great job at fleshing out the Robocop world more.

What really sells the game for me though is the dedication the devs showed in reproducing the world from the movie. Rather than trying to "modernize" the setting to reflect the modern day, the game sticks to its "near future according to the 1980s" presentation, where a police station with a spacious computer server room and an entire maintenance bay for its cyborg cop still has its officers using typewriters and reviewing security footage shot on grainy VHS tapes. And aside from a few clunky lines, the references to the films are generally used to good effect to maintain continuity.

So overall, while the game can be a bit rough and clunky at times, the combat is overall visceral and satisfying and the presentation is filled to the brim with references to the movies and fun environments to shoot apart. Well worth it for fans of Robocop or anyone looking for a fun single player FPS campaign.
