I'm sick of activism in video games.

Fire your DEI team, they're losing your customers.

Make video games, not propaganda.

While I appreciate the change of pace for the PSN decision, firing the PR person who basically did his job doesn't seem like the right or responsible action. He is not wrong in telling the community to voice their concerns in a way that would have a real impact, which we can see the result of. If anything this industry needs more people who are as flat out honest as this guy, not some corporate shill that maintains a pretty face for the business.

I get enough activist dialogue from the social justice police on Twitter. There was no need to go and carpet bomb the storyline of a perfectly good game universe with this unwanted and poorly placed garbage. Totally dissolved any sort of immersion into a new world. If the team spent as much effort on the actual game as they did making it politically correct enough the game might have actually been decent.

I was one of the VERY early players of this game back in 2008 and I still have a character.... on the most unpopulated server in the entire game. I tried to see if they could move my data over to the active servers and there's simply "nothing we can do"

Once upon a time this game was bustling and fun. Now it's just kinda dead.... Sad times.

This game is actually awesome. Seems like a lot of the bad sentiment comes from people who didn't know what they were buying or are too impatient to actually learn how to play efficiently.

The mission timer is a very clever way of dealing with server resource allocation, while providing a sense of urgency for completing missions. It's nice to see a developer thinking outside the box for a change.

Meh.... I don't see the hype here when there's far better survival games that aren't so clunky. Moving around just feels awful. Looks like it's from 1992 (which I guess is just the aesthetic they wanted?) but doesn't do the game justice either. The original Playstation had better gameplay quality than this 2021 brand new production. 20 years ago I might have been impressed but for a current gen game it's sorely lacking in so many areas.

If you want survival just go play Ark, Rust, Icarus or any of the vast, higher quality survival games. You'll have a lot more fun.

Maybe a good game for Viking larpers? But that's about it...

Either make a game that we have to buy and have access to all the weapons (or at least don't make it such absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cancer because all the players who have been around forever have access to all the roflstomp content)

or keep the purchases to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cosmetics you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. You are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ devs. This is why games are ♥♥♥♥ these days.

I see most of the positive reviews are from players with 15 and less hours who probably haven't really gone too far into the game. Not that it's bad, but after playing Ark for over 1300 hours, this game just leaves so much to be desired. A lot of the mechanics just feel clunky and unpolished still even after the mass of updates they've released and anything I've done in this game I've had a better experience and more fun in Ark. The only thing different here is the mutants. Oh, and you spend way more hours chopping trees than anything else really.

Avoiding contact altogether is pretty easy if you want to. I managed to go over 20 days without a single mutant sighting. We build every last structure available in the game and crafted/found every other item so this review isn't just someone who launched the game and was simply wowed by the graphics.

I won't say that I don't recommend this game since it was fun at the time, but I can't see any replay value to it now.

*Update* After coming back to this game a few years later I gotta say, I'm disappointed at the lack of progress. There are new bugs with things I never had issues with before and the game is just poorly optimized. I can't get over 80FPS on an RTX 3080....

Meanwhile they're making a new game... while this one really hasn't gotten much better. Can't say I'd recommend this anymore.
