As a GR1 fan, I played the first game through dozens of times because of the movement and combat, killing an enemy was satisfying and abilities were more fun to use, not being able to use them all the time was a good counterbalance too, the story was alright, but the gameplay loop was CRISP. GR2 seems to throw all these aspects out of the window and double down on the weakest parts of GR1: the dialogue, story and cutscenes. It also has very buggy enemies and gimmicky levels.

I really wanted to make a list right after a session of GR2, so here is the stuff I found disappointing:
-Crashes
-combat is more dependent on juggling abilities compared to the more streamlined system in GR1.
-timed jumps/parkour, not very skill expressive and destroys the flow of movement.
-less freedom of movement compared to the earlier title (many walls that you can't wallrun anymore).
-way buggier than GR1.
-Long cutscenes and cringeworthy dialogue disrupting gameplay.
-The hub world being completely useless timewaster.
-The music is very bad compared to the earlier title.
-Worse layouts on the combat arenas.
-Cookiecutter story
-Makes me want to play GR1

It baffles me how the fanbase literally told them why they love and play the game, and then the devs just ignore it, or worse yet, try to improve it by throwing ♥♥♥♥ at the wall and seeing what sticks. There is a lot of useless fluff in this game, they added fat into an already lean and working system.

TLDR: Buy GR1, if you are a fan of GR1, go play GR1 again. This will not be a step up or more of the same. I got it for 7€ and idk if it was worth the money.

Worth the full asking price. It's good. Fun even if you want to solo.
