Early Access Review
This is definitely an Early Access game, and I'm thrilled the developers have shared this with the community while Cat Lady is in development. Much content and polishing needs to be added to make this game ready for a full release, but I have every reason to believe Rose City Games is pushing rapidly in that direction.

What they've done right so far:
  • Fantastic theme and feel. The art, the music, the mechanics all have a cohesive feel which is fun and unforgiving (funforgiving?) without being frustrating.
  • Deep content without overwhelming the player.
  • Humor is genuinely funny, appropriate, and sprinkled throughout the game at the right pace.

    What needs focus throughout development:
  • Improved balancing of upgrades, cat abilities, and enemies.
  • Greater controller support and UI improvement, such as visual clarity and response to input.

Overall I'm thrilled this game is on its way to become a renowned indie classic, and I look forward to it evolving into a crisp take on roguelikes.

I can think of no free-to-play game I've played more enjoyable than Deceit. It feels more like a paid game rather than F2P. The matchmaking is quick, the gameplay is original and fun, and the majority of players are merits to the community. This game is great to play with friends or strangers, so long as everyone has a microphone and understands the gameplay. The learning curve is short, allowing new players to get the hang of the game within a few rounds. Groups communicating outside the game (i.e. Discord, Skype, etc.) can ruin the round by telling each other who is infected, but generally players are solo and do not undermine the spirit of the game design. Microtransactions are present, as expected on a F2P game, but almost exclusively for cosmetic items. All pertinent game content is available without spending any real money if you choose not to. Deceit does have a few small bugs, but nothing gamebreaking.

The game does have a competitive ranked mode; for what purpose, I'll never know.

I wholly recommend at least trying out a handful of rounds each as infected and innocent to see if you like the game. After all, you don't have anything to lose.

A port of a remake done perfectly right. This is the same as Flatout 2, but with more content. Activities aside from racing such as destruction derby and stunt runs prevent the game from becoming monotonous. The environmental and vehicular destruction in this game is perhaps the best in any racing game I've played and makes for an enjoyable arcade racer.

Garry's Mod is the game I've put the most hours into at the time of this writing, and with good reason. GMod takes the Source engine and really shows what it's capable of, and the community and addons keep getting better and better. I have nearly 90 hours in this game and still have fun and do something new every time I play it.
