edit: having beaten the game, i can say i had a really great time with it. however, there are a few caveats. for one thing, MECH customization is significantly dumbed down from previous titles. not only are there less parts on your mech to customize, there are less parts... full stop. i mean, 3 tank treads? that's a real bummer, dude. COSMETIC customization, however, is the best it's ever been, but it would be even better if there were, you guessed it, more parts! other than that, though, i really enjoyed the game. still very worth your time.

this new generation of armored core puts the focus on mixing and matching builds more than any other, which is a really interesting take on the series. this is cemented in the fact that they allow you to go to your arsenal when you die, change your gear, and respawn on your checkpoint. it's not as bone shatteringly fast as ac4/4a, not as weighty as ac 1-3, and they definitely took inspiration from souls for this installation, that much is obvious.

haven't finished yet, but the story is probably the best in any armored core game. soundtrack's great. love the unique weapons (the pile driver and the javelin rocket launcher are really fun.) i've also recently found some secrets that give me even more gear, which i've missed from the earlier AC titles. and of course, the garage is wonderful, adding in even more customization than previous titles with the addition of materials and weathering settings. the emblem creator also feels more intuitive than ever; i'd compare it to black ops 2's emblem maker, which is a huge compliment.

i thought the "bosses" in the armored core series were never a real strong point. arms forts were cool but kinda lame, especially Answerer, i thought that boss kinda sucked. however, the bosses in this game are great. there's one i didn't like from the beginning of chapter 2, the cleaner, but i also wasn't used to tank treads yet so maybe it was my fault? a warning: there's going to be a gatekeeper boss at the end of chapter 1 that serves as the "lady butterfly" of this game. the bosses in this game are no joke! i find them really fun though :)

the game is overall very solid, there's a lot of accessibility options if you tend to struggle with rhythm, the artstyle is great and the gameplay is fun as heck

unfortunately, this is a rhythm game, and i feel like not a lot of care was put into the music.

the soundtrack for the levels themselves is not memorable. all of it mushes together. it's just commercial-core rock music.
it seems the boss fights use licensed music, which is cool! for the very first boss you fight, when you see that nine inch nails is on the soundtrack, you're gonna get excited. unfortunately it's the most mid nine inch nails song in their discography, 1000000. it's so boring.

i feel like i should be pumped up playing this game, but the music just kills it for me. i'm going to keep playing and update this review when i get a more solid overview of the entire OST, instead of judging based on the two levels i've played. if you aren't a stickler for soundtracks, you'll probably love this game. again, it's fun. i just need good music in my rhythm games and this is not up to snuff.

i love secrets. tunic is secrets: the game. extremely fun for me, but i would understand completely if it doesn't click with you. i've sat here with a notepad scribbling down arrows in specific sequences and its so much fun lol

early contender for game of the year. every square inch of this game is oozing with passion (and cheese.) each stage was surgically crafted to be really fun to play each and every time. pizza tower is the perfect length. it won't take you too long to beat, but there are plenty of things for a completionist to do if you're interested. you'll never be bored playing this game. soundtrack slaps hard btw

edit: i forgot there was ONE thing i really wish this game had: listening to interview entries much like MGS5. there is no better game to do this! instead of sitting there reading your interviews, why not make them audio codecs that you can listen to on the road? it'd be perfect.

its a great game. very easy. by far the easiest monster hunter game. i sort of don't like that, but i don't mind too much because its fun. movement is the highlight of this entry in the series, but because of wirebugs and wirefall, there isn't as much weight to your decisions. one of my favorite parts of the monster hunter franchise is that every single decision you make, every swing of the sword, had consequences. don't get me wrong, wirebugs are really fun, but i'd rather go back to a more slow and methodical approach to hunting monsters. i think out of the two 5th gen games we have so far, the pace of World was better when it came to fights. (p.s. i loved 4th gen so make sure to take that into account)

spiribirds are also a not very fun addition to this entry in the series, making it so that for optimal survivability and damage output you have to chart a route through the map to get spiribirds effectively, which could be give or take five minutes before you actually get to fighting. no fun!!

i have not gotten to end-game sunbreak yet. maybe it gets super hard! who knows. still monster hunter, still da best, pick this up ESPECIALLY if you're a newcomer to the franchise because it's extremely accessible

really solid! short but very sweet, very worth the money. the new mechanics are great (i did not like the hold but thats just me.) completed all available content in roughly 2 hours
