One of the most positive experiences I've ever had playing a video game. Even if you aren't an Earthbound or RPG fan, I strongly recommend that you give this game a shot. If you are an Earthbound fan, this game is a must-buy. It's only $10. If you haven't played the game yet, stop reading the review and play the game.







The gameplay places a spin on traditional turn-based RPGs in that all enemies can be defeated without having to kill them. Defending from attacks is done in a manner to shmups where attacks a represented as dodgeable bullets. The patterns are incredibly varied and are contextually appropriate for every enemy and boss in the game. The story is hilarious and heartwarming, featuring Earthbound self-awareness while having more heart and humanity than most, if not all triple A titles in recent years. The game is short for an RPG of the style, as evident by the playtime, but every moment feels engaging, whether it be from dialogue from the colorful yet extremely fleshed out and fully realized characters, or the unique combat that plays well in traditional gameplay sense, while placing those mechanics in a context that fits into the world as well as challenging the status quo of traditional game design. If the overwhelmingly positive reception hasn't convinced you yet that the game is worth your time, then take my word for it. The game should not disappoint. At $10, I have no qualms recommending the game to everyone. Truly excellent.
