Beautiful storytelling, gorgeous graphics and environments, smart design, crisp gameplay.

There are bugs - all games-as-a-service have bugs after every patch - so let's hope you've been paying attention and know that going in. The biggest downer is the community of whiners in the forums.

Otherwise it's a damn fine franchise, and Beyond Light is gonna be bananas.

To update:

Here we are on the eve of Lightfall, two and a half years later. The game is in an incredible state, story has risen in seriousness and beauty and intensity, and there's some great balance, for the most part, across PvE and PvP sandboxes.

Still worth a buy, still worth the time and attention.
