Fact: The online community on Steam is dead. Get this on PS4 instead if you want real people to play with.

Also fact: Dead or Alive 6 is bloody fun. It improves on DOA5LR in almost every single way, with the exception of Nyotengu's character model (which is somehow worse than it was in DOA5) and the removal of Tag Mode (which sucks real hard but isn't personally a deal breaker for me). The graphics are just straight up better, the controls are as solid as those of its predecessor and while I'm not the biggest fan of the newly introduced Special Move Gauge and Break Blow mechanic (flashy, but far too easy to execute IMO), the hold system is great as always and keeps the whole game running smooth as clockwork. I'm far from the most competitive DOA player you'll find (hardly played online in DOA5, mostly play local co-op against friends and I suck in most other fighting games sans Blazblue), but trust me when I say that this game'll will get your heart pumping and your blood rushing. Dead or Alive 6 is just as fun and exhilarating as its predecessors, and the series remains my second favourite in fighting games (right behind Blazblue) for a reason.

Oh, and did I mention that, with the sole exception of Nyotengu, the character models in DOA6 have all been improved on? The female characters are impossibly attractive to an almost inhuman extent, and the male characters are well-chiseled in a similar fashion. The consistent perfection and beauty of DOA's character models is something that I've always greatly admired. Now I do know that the series is regarded poorly by some in the FGC for... reasons, and objectively speaking, I can see why. But honestly? ♥♥♥♥ the FGC. If I'm going to be playing a fighting game, I'd rather have attractive people duke it out in the arena than Jabba the Hutt or Quasimodo. Yeah, fight me.

Anyways, long story short, Dead or Alive 6 ticks all the right boxes for me in both the fanservice and actual fighting departments. The combat system is easy enough for newcomers to pick up (it's essentially rock-paper-scissors with a few unique mechanics thrown in) and yet simultaneously has enough depth to test experienced players' limits and make them feel right at home. It may not have the best reputation among fighting game enthusiasts, and absolutely, positively do not get it on Steam if you plan to play anything more than story or local co-op (the PS4 community is still alive (heh), so get it over there instead) but this game has a special place in my heart. It's bloody great. Get it.
